Could Sunspots Influence Disease? Genetic Mutations?
We were watching TDC the other night - had a show on about the Sun. Great show. Had a segment on sunspot activity and the huge power output that happens. Got me wondering if there is a relationship to sunspots and genetic mutations or even disease. All that energy has to influence the genes right? Heck, maybe even spark those liquid crystals to self assemble (my own thoughts on biogenisis btw).
So, through the power of the net, I found this abstract. I may have to order this paper to investigate further. Solar cycles and their relationship to human disease and adaptability Medical Hypotheses, Volume 67, Issue 3, Pages 447-461 G. Davis, Jr., W. Lowell Quote:

Don't be silly. Nature has no mechanism for changing anything. Only man and his horrible greedy actions control the world.
Seriously, The whole 'space weather' field is fascinating. I have heard that a a decrease in solar storms actually increases our exposure to cosmic radiation. ...due to less 'solar wind' activity.

I have to get the article but I would imagine that they would have graphical representations for what they are worth.
Coming from a guy that makes his living by graphically representing reality, I would not lend much credence to their charts - but it is a cool concept and sure does seem to make sense.
