Need Advice...HELP ME PLEASE

Several months ago I sold a Luger with capture papers through Gun Broker. The buyer has relisted the Luger, however he has DOCTORED the capture papers to include another pistol, which he also has for sale. Another GB user has informed me of this "fraud" and would like me to report him to GB. SHOULD I DO IT?

Is this the Luger?

If so, the seller seems to have a small business in brokering WWII memorabilia...who knows what other frauds he is creating.

Report him.

He is just a bald-faced liar. (His altering of the capture paper is pretty poor too.)

Note his comment on the Browning (the one he added to the paper):

BIDDERS: I also bought the German Luger from the Estate, that is listed on this WW-II Capture Certificate. I will be listing it on GB.Com by the end of this week. It is a 1938 barrel marked S/42 MAUSER in 90%+ condition, with all matching serial numbers and one matching S/N Magazine; including NAZI Marked Wa-Proofed Holster & extra (different S/N) magazine.

Contact GunBroker; you have irrefutable proof of his fraud with your picture.

Why should you not do it?

Moral ambivalence....

This guy is likely going to try and turn the table on me, saying this is the way he got it from me...and that I was the fraud..

However the paper trail will soon show the facts to be different, and a legal suit for slander will ensue.

javadog 06-12-2009 04:21 AM

Since you have gone on a somewhat public record announcing to the world that you know he is cheating prospective buyers, you need to get the facts into the open to protect yourself. Google can be deadly....

Carry on,
JR

I have already dropped the dime...on him to Gun Broker

Groesbeck Hurricane 06-12-2009 04:34 AM

Integrity. Some have it, others do not. Will you be party to the perpetration of this fraud?

tabs 06-12-2009 04:36 AM

I needed the moral support to assuage any guilt that I might have of being a RAT...which might be coming from his direction.

However once I received that e-mail stating his fraud my hand was forced...I had no other choich but to act, to protect my own reputation.

Jim Richards 06-12-2009 04:42 AM

Good choich. :)

You have a date stamped photo.
Now make a copy of the website listing with his photos.
Save the evidence in case any legal claims arise.

This is really odd.... it looks like not only has a pistol been added to the doc, but the name on the doc has been altered (notice that T/5 comes before the name in Tabs' version, after in the GB version). Also, the horizontal fold has changed... Tabs' has it going through the bottom of the "R" in LUGAR and the serial 3947 is below the fold, in the GB version both the LUGAR and serial are on the fold.

It looks to me like the guy made his own certificate. None of the writing matches exactly. Look at the date, for instance.

Plus, his is yellow and Tabs' was pink....;)
