Oh. My. God. Just played a Soldano SLO 100

I've heard the hype for years about this amp, and I tried one out today at a local music store. I ended up playing it for almost 2 hours straight. This amp has no tonal faults, it is by far the best sounding amplifier I have ever heard. It seems literally impossible to get a bad sound out of this amp. It seems awfully loud though, even for a 100 watt tube amp. I "cranked" it to about 2.5, and people in the store were putting their hands over their ears due to the volume. I played through a few Marshalls there, and there was no comparison. The Soldano makes them sound like cheap trash. This particular SLO 100 is used, in mint condition, and on consignment. I may go pick it up tomorrow. It's a good deal, still not cheap, but a good deal for that amp.

I've played through a ton of very nice $1000 amps, and gotten some great tones, but wow, put a $4K amp against them and it's no comparison! I guess you do get what you pay for.

I think Michael Houser (Widespread Panic) used a Soldano quite a bit and I think he had some of the best tone I've ever heard.

For some reason, I've been lusting after a Bogner Shiva here lately...
