Question How many people here smoke?

I am an avid NON-Smoker, just want to run a poll and see what kind of company I am keeping here. Plus I want to try this poll thing.

For those of you who do choose to smoke, Please don't smoke in your car, it may be my next one

Shawn

Shawn? You didn't become selective enough, IMHO. I mean, cigarettes, Cigars, or pipe? I've done all 3. (you forgot to mention the evils of chew) And each has it's own stats, medically speaking. For your information, I don't smoke anything , tobacco or other, in my 911, But, who'd be interested in moving down in car ownership years...right? Who'd want an "old" Speedster, RS, or 550 Spyder if the PO smoked? Gawd! The HORROR it must be! The image of a car owner actually SMOKING in a car.... Shawn, hate to destroy your image of what the world ought to be, but a hint....smoking tobacco? It's still legal, although barely. I don't think my car would survive with such a puritan as you owning it. Gawd, have you ever heard of individual freedoms, individual choice???????? The "PC" crowd that blasts smoking? They are the same people who want to put us all on mass transit, get rid of the SUV's, and other cars. How long do you think it will be before "they" come after the 911, for one reason or another? Wise up, man...or, sooner or later, "they" will be coming after you.

Smile ex-smoker

Im an ex-smoker.

Giving up was the best thing I have ever done.

Starting was the worst.

We ex-smokers are the worst kind of anti-smoking fascists!!

Geez, I almost got lost trying to find the off toppics forum!

Now for the topic, I don't smoke and have no urge to smoke. And I would never ever even think about smoking in a Porsche, or a car for that matter. And no one is allowed to smoke or drink alcoholic beverages inside my cars. I guess I'm pretty picky but, hey, its my car. So Shawn, your safe with buying my cars. So how about the 912?? I never smoked in it!

Other than a good Cuban a few times a year, smoking is a waste of time, money and our lives.

Killed too many people in my family already, not gonna get me. I am going to do it fast and not in a bed for months on end wasting away from cancer.

Been there, will not do it again!

Thumbs up

Thank you PWD72s! I'm so weary of the anti-smoking zealots dictating public policy. A classic case of too many poorly- or
mis-educated people with too much time on their hands. The obviously outlandish rhetoric, misstated statistics, and sinfully false advertisements (paid with taxpayer money!) can actually be amusing when one considers that the vast majority of the public believes it! The gov't says it, so it must be true. Oh, brother.

Smoking? I'd love to! Unfortunately, there are too many physical things I need to do so I jog, push weights, etc.... These activities aren't compatible with inhaling smoke. But I did enjoy cigarettes very much. While I'm here let me shatter a myth for the sheep - it's no more difficult to stop smoking cigarettes than it is to stop biting your nails. It's a habit like any other. If you want to stop do it. Don't whine about being a victim. Physiologically, nicotine isn't much of an addictive substance. Deal with reality.

I don't smoke in the car for safety's sake. Otherwise, it's my car.

Joeaksa - I often smoke a cigar. Cubans haven't been very good of late. Since you like the complex & robust Cubans, try some top-of-the-line Domicanos. You won't be disappointed.

As I step off the soapbox, I wish you all well

Please think

I SMOKE,

PORK ROASTS, MAINLY, (but never in the car)

I don't smoke in the 911 but if you want to... fine, just open the window and watch the ashes.

if you want to have cocktails in the car... thats fine too, just keep it low.

let the puritans swoon!!

I smoke. It really made me mad when Clinton pushed to raise the taxes on cigarettes while he was doing all kind of stuff with a cigar. How about Janet Reno leting states that collected taxes off sale of cigarettes for years (therefore a party to there sale) sue the tobacco companies? Somebody can work for a living, I'm not talking about sitting in an office lording it over people & taking advantage of them, but work like maybe some of the tobacco field hands here in SC that can't aford the product they produce. This kind of stuff and all the antismoking Nazis make me sick.

I do have to admit one thing though, this stuff made me realize some people don't like smoke so I ask before I light up in a place around strangers.

Possibly my worst mistake starting. But I do smoke and have been for 15 years. Better than heroin I suppose.

I smoked for 30 years, best thing I ever did was to stop, that was 21 years ago. At a average price of $2.00 a pack , 1 pk. a day=365 x $2.00= $730.00 x 21 =$ 15,330.00. That bought and rebuilt my 914, with change to spare. You guys who want to smoke , ok, but I don't want to be any where around. I'll get off the soap box. Wishing all Marry Christmas and a safe and healthy new year, life is to short savor every minute. Dave

I don't smoke, but I dip snuff. Just as nasty of a habit, and I do it in my car too.

I just quit smoking day before yesterday.

I just up and quit, tossed my zippo and pack in the garbage and kept walking. It feels pretty good actualy.
Hope it lasts.

That's good news, Lee.
However, I hope we can still share a fine cigar in the very near future. I'm buying!

I concur Doug,

I hold to the belief that "too much of anything" is bad.

It's just a habit,....a bad habit...an expensive habit....

I don't buy into this addiction stuff. It's all a state of mind. Patches, gum...don't need it... I just need to break the "habit".

The biggest battle over here is with Boredom.

Leland, I quit yesterday, (I hope). Disagree about cigs not being addictive though. Statistically,(scientifically), nicotine is most addictive substance known to man. Worse than heroin,(opium), and yes I can prove this. Try to stay quit, you'll have a better and longer life. If you bum one off a buddy while drinking in 6 months, you will be right back to smoking real quick, I'll bet the SC on it.

This topic pissed me off though- guy who started it probably cleans bottom of car w/ toothbrush, then puts it in mouth. What a twat.
