The Mustang was always a better car.

"vanishing Point car"
I actually have an Apline White 1970 Challenger RT. Factory 426 Hemi, dual four barrels and a Pistol grip 4 speed. Being a 4 speed car it came from the factory with a Dana 60 rear end. Mine was born with 4:10 gears, I had them swapped for 3:54 to make it a little more driveable. I like the original car better than the new one. The 70 car is smaller than the new one too. When a good deal falls my way I'll buy a new one. Hopefully I can find a white one. The people driving the new ones stare at mine when I do drive which isnt very often considering resale is well over 100,000 now. |
The new Chrysler "Hemis" aren't even hemis.
It's a total marketing ploy. |
I like em. My buddy has an R/T. The cars is a monster.
Only problem I have with it is, to me it looks more like a Cuda than a Challenger. The Cuda was shorter and beefier than the original Challenger. |
Somewhere I have a digital picture of a new challenger that had been fitted with fender gills, Shaker hood and a 71 Cuda "style" grill. It also had the 71 Cuda 4 headlight system and tail lights as well. I actually liked it better with these body mods. Regardless its a good looking car. Big and Heavy but still a looker. at least in my opinion. If I can find that picture I will post it.

km, would you mind getting a pic of your car along side a new Challenger so we can see how bloated the new vehicle really is?
|
I will get a pic. You'll be suprised how much bigger the new one is. I have a buddy that bought a new one. I'll give him a call.
|
I used to have a pic comparing new Mini to old Mini. The new Mini is small, but the difference between them is staggering.

look at these side by side. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1245513309.jpg Personally, I think the new one looks cleaner. |
Heres a slightly lowered SRT8http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1245513826.jpg

smooth vs. chunky?

Michael, they're out there now...tire kicking is fun. Enjoy! I agree, lowered a bit, they look much better. I'm thinking of racing coils on the Mustang...lowers it 1.5".
Problem is, I really like the ride & feel of the (stock to Bullitt models) track pack suspension. I'm probably going to leave this one alone. I mean, what's not to like about over .9 G's on a skidpad? If you do go the Challenger? Black looks pretty cool. I'd suggest grabbing one while you can, before California outlaws black cars. The one here is pretty loaded...IIRC, sticker was $45K. |

I always kind of liked the looks of the original Challenger when they were "raced-out" a little but it was a car that was criticized at the time for being big and heavy for a pony car. It looks longer than the new one in the picture above.
