I am MORE than fed-up with hughes net agristar
Got the hughes net agristar satellite service in February. Installed end of February the newest, latest, and greatest HN-9000 system. State of the art. Bleeding edge... The Modem broke down within 30 days and stopped working. Three weeks for them to admit the unit is broken. They will send replacement. Oh, there are ZERO replacements available unless I am a new customer. Oh, wait, they really meant having a system installed.
Much wrangling and complaining for WEEKS, finally they agree to refund me my money! Oh, wait, they apparently did not mean it. It is now two months on and I have YET to receive my money!!! They will not even return phone calls and all calls seem to miraculously go into voice mail no matter whose phone I use to call them. Strange. Such wonderful service to start up. Guess I am calling the guys who start the service, they answer their phones... Anyway, they get my DO NOT USE vote. Right up there with worst buy and wal-farts. |

Did you put it on a credit card?
Dispute it and get your CC issuer to initiate a chargeback. Vendors have a fixed period of time to react to a chargeback before you are automatically refunded. Too many chargebacks will affect their merchant account, ability to process cards. |
Be sure and contact the BBB in your area and register a complaint. There's probably a way to do that online.

GH;
Am in a very similar situation, but did not go that route. You'd be surprised at the speeds and reliability that a USB modem delivers (if you have anyone's cell service). My next door neighbors went with same system as yours because they are behind the hill from Verizon, and have the same complaint as you. That system is advertised heavily here too. They just found out AT&T installed a new tower (that I do not get) but gets to them. Good luck, was wondering why I hadn't seen you on a lot anymore. |
Consumerist. Check, will do!
BBB - waste of time. They will not do anything. I left a rather blunt message that we were about to go to court over this with treble damages. They actually called back and stated the check would be here within the week and that they planned to call me next week. Fing, Yep, it has been TOUGH recently... Not to sound too sour but I left a rather nice paying job with a five figure bonus to move to Indiana for a lower paying job with more responsibility. New VP who wanted to do things that were, frankly, not proper at best. I refused to back him. He brags about six figure signing bonus, says I make too much money, and I'm out the door. I had been working 12+ hours a day during the week and weekends (salary). Now I work 12 plus hours a day looking for work. Over 450 actual jobs applied for since the first week in April. Not much fun time right now... And I need to fix this little pesky oil leak... |

So it depends on how you look at it. They can't do anything to help you, but it's not really a waste of time is it? |
Dave;
Hang in there. Like this is all you need right now. Michael. |
I feel bad about bumping my brothers dish every time I go to his house.

I used to pay the extortion money because I thought it was important to have the sign on my front door. Then I decided to stop paying and I received friendly threats that my non-participation would impact my standing with them. That is when I realized they are a crock. Pay the extortion money and you are suddenly a great vendor. Don't and run the risk of having a tarnished name. A paying member with a good record is suspicious IMHO. A non-paying Company with a good record is a good vendor to go with. If I see they are members I grow suspicious. O/P - I had Hughes for 2 years problem free, my only complaint was that their speed is not as fast as advertised. I complained to them a few times with no results. Once the 2 year contract was up I canceled them out. I would not recommend them to anyone that needs faster speed than dial up. |
I am always surprised at how many people think the BBB will do anything....They are just there for the hand out.
Just big suckers of a hard working business. I have not ever payed them a dime |
Just a bump because I am agrivated with these people. We'll call you back. Your check is being processed. We'll call you back.
I just left six different people the same message that my minimum expectation is to receive the FEDEX tracking number, check number, and check amount by Noon on 17 July 2009. I fully expect that NOTHING will happen today. I am sooooo fed up with this... |
Oh, and for what it is worth:
We went with this system because AT&T could not provide service. For five years we have had their internet cards, the 3G ones when they came out. I had ALMOST never had 3G service through AT&T. Even in such small towns and villages as Houston, Philadelphia, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Denver, and Chicago. Always some excuse as to why the 3G would not work in those areas. I even took laptops into company stores and proved the cards were correct with correct sim cards and that our account was a 3G account. Never had satisfaction. I loved the AT&T line when we quit: But sir, we need to make money and we cannot support everyone all the time. Loved it... We have a Sprint internet card with 3G. Sprint warned me the card would be dial-up speed at best in our area and gave us 7 days to try it out. We are at dial-up in our area. BUT we get 3G in Indianapolis!!!!! Could not do that with at&t!!!! Three months with Sprint and they have lived up to the lowered expectations the sales guys gave us! They, at least, were truthful! |
