Paul, don't overlook the Nissan Murano / Infiniti FX small sport utes. My father has a Murano and it has been rock solid. The CVT feels wierd at first, but he really likes it.
He lives in NOVA and commutes into DC with it. It shares time with an 330ci that he drives when the weather is nice out. Bill |

The first thing I noticed about your list is you seem to prefer the import version of chrysler.
No offense, but VW? Subaru? Mazda? They aren't bad (except for VW) but IMO they can't hold a candle to Toyota, Nissan is almost as good. I buy cars that will run for 100k or more without seeing the inside of a shop. I would not always expect that from the cars on your list. Yes, I'm an import snob. Except my tundra was made in San Antonio. Maybe that makes me a redneck snob. I dunno. The wife drives a murano and loves it, my favorite vehicle (for her) was the Toyota sienna she used to have. Now that was a good, reliable, sturdy vehicle. unfortunately when it was time to trade it in she just had to get an SUV. Got her a Honda pilot. She put 110k on it but I wasn't impressed. It was in the shop for repairs 3 times not counting the recalls, things I couldn't fix myself. it wasn't terrible, it just didn't live up to the whole Honda reliability mystique. Got rid of the pilot for the murano. Much better. |

"Venza", btw, is Japanese for, "this mustache leaves in 15 minutes, be on it". |
Paul..sounds like you made a good choice. May you enjoy many trouble free miles.
More importantly, pain free miles. :) |

I'm working on it...rather Cindy is. Trying to figure out the digital camera. So, should I pose with the mini 14 or the pool cues case? Road player in a Mustang...kind of fits. ;) Right now, fighting a lousy cold...figures. I finally get the chores around the house finished, the house painting done...then I get sick! Some day, yeah, some day, this old retired goat is going to find time to play! |
Our daily driver is a 2007 Toyota Rav4. It is front wheel drive 3.5 L V6 with 275 hp and gets 30 mpg on the highway. Very comfortable to ride in and built very well. Great vehicle.

My mom drives a Corolla that is great and my dad sold a Tacoma and he frequently admits that he wished he hadn't

Hey the Toyotas aren't performance vehicles. They are meant to be driven. Every single day. They always start and they always run. The drive is a little numb yes but its reliable and it gets good MPG. Moms Corolla has proven more reliable than either VW.

Pulled the trigger yesterday...base model, right at 25K. It is all I need. You can't kill this thing with Kryptonite The search for the next sports car begins next year.
