i guess i owe somewhere in the neighborhood of ten trillion dollars then

I did the math. $80,000 per song. I've got somewhere between 10,000 and 15,000 songs. I probably owe about a billion dollars. Do you think they'd accept a check, or should I hit the ATM for cash?

Western union.

That is disproportionately higher than the actual losses the suffered. How is that possible?

I love her comments, "Whatever, i have nothing, they're not going to get anything."

I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 50,000 songs. That's about $4,000,000,000.

Cara Duckworth, a spokeswoman for the RIAA, said the industry remains willing to settle. She refused to name a figure, but acknowledged Thomas-Rasset had been given the chance to settle for $3,000 to $5,000 earlier in the case.
For 24 songs I would settle for $23.76, how anyone can come to close to $2M is a mystery to me. |
It's someone trying to "send a message" about intellectual property.
Naturally we let the Chinese and Taiwanese get away with murder pirating U.S. software, movies, songs, etc. but "that's different" because they're a "trading partner" right? We should tell China that all the T-bills they're holding are invalid due to the value of all the counterfeit goods that have come out of their country while their government totally turns a blind eye to it. The value of such damage to U.S. companies and our economy is right about the value of all U.S. debt held by China. That'd make for some GREAT entertainment. And frankly I'd back us doing it - seriously. |
