The French Connection chase was filmed on 86th st, in my old neighborhood in Brooklyn. We lived on one of the cross streets. I remember it was such a big deal. I had no clue what it was all about, (I was only 6 sat the time) But I remember standing behind barricades watching all the commotion going on. I know my older brother and my father where all excited about it.

Of the movie chases, Bullitt is still the king, In my opinion. No special effects used, no speeding up of the camera, etc.
