				Changing out a few windows

Actually, almost all the windows in the house from old cheap single panes that rattled to double pane. Sliders too. Putting a swinging French door in the dining room to replace a window next week. I like this change in my bedroom the best so far. Sorry, kind of dark, but the only pic I had of the original was dark too, so took the second in about the same amount of light.

I have changed every window in my house myself. Well worth the effort. Looks great, Hugh.

Hey Milt, yeah think I got a pretty good deal. I bought them from 1stWindows.com and am having a local contractor that I know personally and works on his reputation in the area doing the work. They're nail-ons, not replacements. Also moving a window a few feet to center on the space and putting in some nice French doors, and one of those swinging doors with opening side lites for ventilation in another room. Found some dry rot, and they're taking care of that as well. I'm also going to get the $1,500 Obama energy rebate (the only Fed money I can qualify for) and a few hundred in rebates from Milgard.

Uhhmm.... I don't know how long those rafters are, but looks to me like you have a roof load bearing on that side window, with no header.
