Going back to school

Just thought I'd share with you guys.

I signed up for classes to get a certificate to be an Auto Technician. Once I get the cert. I can then take the tests for the state to be a Master.

I took a placement test this afternoon and got 99 on both the reading and composition portions but did not so good on the math part. I will be able to pass on the required English class but will have to the Algebra.

The math part probably would be easy for alot of you guys but for me, math has always been tough. Throw in some goofy looking signs and letters with numbers and I get queasy. I found an algebra training guide on the Web which seems to explain the meanings in easy terms. Hopefully, it will help me in class.

My goal is to get certified taking night classes, whether or not I get called back to work or get another job. While this college isn't MIT or a major university, it's what I can afford right now and has some great programs.

The long term plan is to get hired as an auto tech and try to shoot for getting a degree in business once the money is available.

I'm both excited and a bit scared to be back in school( I start next Monday)but I know that if I don't do it now, it won't happen.

Wish me luck!!!

Good luck. There's gotta be some gov't. money for your tuition if you look hard enough.

Already applied for everything I can. It's not free money but it will pay for what I need. The advisor I was paired up with has been very helpful.

You sure that was a 99? Maybe if you turn the paper over it was a 66. LOL! Just kidding! Good Luck with your new adventure and let me know if you need some help in the math department. I might remember a thing or two from my college days.....

+1 on what Rick said. There is MI gov't money just for this. They made a huge deal about it not long ago on the TV. Look into it!

Bite me, Bill.

The "no worker left behind" program was closed by Jenny G. on May 1.

I'm going to get on the waiting list, just in case any more money becomes available. Yeah, that'll happen.
