new scam involving the Verizon name

Just got a call saying my bills are not being delivered and what's my address.

Sure thing, lady, let me give you my DL no. too.

Watch out for this one.

Phone books are full of millions of names and addresses. Wonder what the scam could be? Hope your phone doesn't quit working.

The scam could be to steal a referal and get extra commision, I wouldn't doubt it was a verizon salesperson.....or possibly someone trying to get your info so they could "add" a line without your knowledge...

Well, I asked how do I know you work for Verizon. She tells me to contact Verizon. I ask her to transfer the call. She says she can't so I tell her, "You don't work for Verizon then," and hung up.

I figure the information request just leads into "more verification" and that would be the scam.

milt, do you have verizion? that would be a risky call. not sure of what the scam is. i would just call verizon back to verify.

its not like the dozens of "fishing" scams we get on our email saying there is a problem with your account at so and so bank. my wife fell for that one. i think that is how her ebay account got stolen.
