Econimcal way of shipping a pair of seats..?
I want to purchase some seats, problem is, they are in Ontario, Canada. I don't know if that ups the price but he said it would cost $300.00 to ship to Phoenix..! This for a 65x30x30 box at about 120lbs. He also did say that if I could figure out a cheaper alternative he would go that route and the cheaper price.
I've never shipped a pair of seats, has anyone done this? Who is the cheapest shipper for something like this? Thanks... |
Go to U-haul and buy a "hanging garmet box", like for shipping a bunch of hanging shirts.
Then try Yellow Frieght for a quote. http://www.yrc.com/ |

I've used FedEx, not too bad. |

I shipped some. I separated the backs and bases and got them into boxes that were only one size oversize. 2 bases in one, 2 backs in another. I lined the boxes near the upholstery with cheap 1/8 th inch paneling.

shipping by bus might not be too bad, I just dont know if you can go from Canada to the US. I have shipped wheels by bus across Canada and it worked out well.

I'm not sure what their current rates are, but they used to be around a buck a pound. However, that requires you to drop-off and pick-up from one of their facilities. I've used them to ship engines before, with good luck. |
Greyhound. I've had great luck with them and sent/received:
- wheels - seats - fenders - dashboards - whale tails - tires The only downside is having to physically go down to my local greyhound station, which is like walking into a war zone. Scary place. But the prices are good and my stuff always arrives in good shape. |
or you can do what this slimeball did "chrisinchesapea" and have the seller ship them to you and you will cover the cost after you get them and simply dont pay for the shipping.....
"chris" found a super economical way to ship seats!........ ask me how i know. |
I used a wardrobe moving box and had the UPS guy come pick it up at my house.

Thanks for all the ideas guys...! I had thought of the wardrobe box, one of the problems is that they are crossing the border, I guess that adds to the charge
