FOTA calls off breakaway plans

http://www.racer.com/2009/06/fota-teams-call-off-breakaway-series/

Gee, who would have predicted this?

Too bad they couldn't get Max and Bernie to go away now....

I guess this is good news. When IRL and CART split there were no winners. Sadly, it was the IRL that "won".

Actually, part of the deal was that Max goes away when his term expires in October, or so.

I saw that he will not run for re-election. I was hoping he and Bernie would be told, thanks for the job done, and off you go.

Oh well. I am just glad to see that the teams can focus on racing again.

It will be great to see the other teams catch up and have a series that comes down to the last race to decide the WDC!

Bernie is not the biggest problem
CVC owns 50+% of the income
Bernie does own a bit of CVC but
the pay out needs to change to the teams
tracks need a break too
but that willnot happen now

Max is effectively neutered.

"But it is also believed that Michel Boeri, currently President of the FIA senate and head of the Monaco automobile club, will immediately begin to handle all relations between the sport's governing body and the teams." F1 Live

And rumor on Fchat (supposedly from a Ferrari press release) is that the rules now are to be determined by a voting body called the F1 Commission consisting of:
Tracks get 5 votes
Teams get 6 votes
FIA gets 1 vote
FOM gets 1 vote

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but he's already making noises that he won't necessarily quit...
