Not my cup of tea, but it makes a Ferrari look rather common, doesn't it?

GG Allin 06-24-2009 11:38 AM

Your cell phone takes good pictures, but that car is ugly.

Here are some specs: http://www.seriouswheels.com/cars/top-Spyker-C8-Spyder.htm

$288,000

The interior has a touch of steampunk to it, I like that. If I knew what I was doing, I would want to do my 911 as a ratrod outside, brass and leather steampunk inside.

Gogar 06-24-2009 11:45 AM

My Bayliner has a steering wheel JUST LIKE THAT!!

equality72521 06-24-2009 11:47 AM

You can't see it in the pics but there is a butterfly in each exhaust pipe that looks to be actuated by the pot in the picture above (one on each pipe). It looks like it's for a straight pipe exhaust when you want it or diverts exhaust through the perforated outer portion when you want it to be quieter.

It's as bugly a car as I've ever seen.

targa911S 06-24-2009 12:42 PM

that is just butt ugly.

Rot 911 06-24-2009 01:13 PM

Incredibly ugly.

masraum 06-24-2009 01:22 PM

I saw the Top Gear episode where they drove one. I thought it was really ugly then. In your pictures it looks a little better. It's got some great stuff, but on the whole, I don't like it. I think Top Gear did not like the handling.

Very odd car.

I really like some of the styling cues, but don't really like the whole package. I hate the steering wheel, but that shift linkage is pretty trick!

David 06-24-2009 03:16 PM

I don't like the styling but as an amateur machinist, I find the beauty is in the details. All over the car are perfectly machined bits.

the "nanny stickers" on the dash are a nice touch

I agree. There is one in my town & it doesn't do anything for me. Too much "look at me".

There are some interesting details, but to me it comes across as trying way too hard.

I will keep my '88 Carrera.

Porsche-O-Phile 06-24-2009 05:48 PM

I can appreciate the aeronautical influences, but honestly I think they're forced and the car comes off as kind of "theme park-ish".

Very cool car in terms of distinctiveness though. I've spent a lot of time at the Spyker booth at the last few LA Auto Shows. They're always interesting to study the details of.

Exactly how I felt about it.

My wife saw one of those in Edmond Oklahoma just last month.

Incredible isn't it? On that gorgeous turned aluminum dash.

I sat in one of these things at TechnoClassic, and that interior is incredible. Everything is solid, billet aluminum. Nothing stamped or cheap. Gauges that look like Jaeger LaCoutre (sp?) watches. Beautifully cross-stitched kid leather. It feels like you're in the rarest and most expensive car on the planet.
