My recent trip to SoCal, Malibu..

So as some may know I was in SoCal last week on 'business'... racing a car in a competition at Autoclub Speedway in Fontana. I was under some pretty heavy time constraints and didn't have a vehicle of my own to travel in so I couldn't meet up with any of you... a shame, I know.

But on Saturday we had a failure on the car and DNF'd so we packed up, dropped the race trailer, and headed for Malibu beach.

I took very limited pictures, but I must say that the Porsche per Capita on PCH through Malibu is ridiculous. At one point we were counting the Porsche-to-Prius ratio ... In one stretch of PCH I counted 27 Priuses (Priii?) and 21 Porsches.

If you were on PCH between the Santa Monica Pier and a few miles north of Malibu beach area beach on saturday I probably passed you by. A few specific cars I can remember:

- A red 928 S4 / GTS, late 80's to 90's car, with the black rear wing. Parked at a place and later saw driving down PCH at the Will Rogers beach area (this is where I was walking around)

-A black 944 S2 convertible parked outside a place on PCH north of Las Tunas beach area.

- twenty five or so 996's and 997's. Various models. 1 or 2 997 turbos.

- An early 911, '65-'73, tannish brown in color.

Any pelicans who live near the beach in that area?

I had a great time, I'd love to visit the are again some time.
I didn't take a lot of pics unfortunately.

This is the famous Malibu "Wall" at Malibu's Surfrider Beach, where surf legends from the 50's and 60's like Dewey Weber, Micky Dora, Mike Doyle and Gidget gathered.(Also the crowd from "BIG WEDNESDAY".)

Dude, we need to get you a level. A couple of them pictures are a bit crooked
Malibu is always a trip. Like fantasyland at disney. There's a reason people spend $10 million for a shack that gets hit with wildfires and landslides just to live in Malibu.

One time we went on a fun run through the hills and ended up in that area before we headed back.
IIRC it was raining, and a couple of the P cars hit 120 or so going down PCH near where those pics were taken. No, not me. I kept it under 80
We also lost two 914s in spins on mullholand that day. One was OK, the other was banged up good but still drivable.
One guy was running hoosier slicks (in the rain) and he did just fine, but he's a racer. No big deal for him. I'd have been all over the place.

Like I said... I had never seen so many Porsches in a square mile, except for maybe at a dealership... than I did on the mailbu stretch of PCH.

I take it most those people aren't the kind of people who are visiting pelican parts, however.
