Audi bodyshop recommendation in Hollywood?

My sister got rear-ended on PCH this weekend. Actually, it was her husband who was driving the car (an A3) at the time. Not too bad she says; looks like a fender bender. Ironically, her husband also got rear-ended last week in his A4. So, anyone got a recommendation for a bodyshop convenient to the Hollywood area? She's not keen to go solely by the one recommended to her by the other party's insurance carrier. I've already told her to call around to the local car Audi/BMW/MB/Lexus dealers to see who they prefer.

Try Arroyo Auto body in Van Nuys. They did some work for me before. They only work on high ends cars like Ferrariss, Porsche, and such. You get the idea.

Do you want *cost no object* best or best for the $$?

I suppose best for the $$. This doesn't have to be museum quality, but it does have to be up to snuff for a fairly new car with no other real body blemishes.

I just took a look at the bumper. Mainly it looks like scuffs all the way through the paint, but I'm sure the underlying EPS layer must be compromised, too. Funny part is that you can tell it was a red VW, due to the leftover paint, as well as the large circular imprint right in the center, with the bottom half of the "W" clearly visible as an imprint. There are also 7 blue smeary digits visible from the license plate of the other gal. Maybe not completely legible to my eye, but enough so that I'm sure the lads down at CSI could recreate the plate number without any difficulty.

You would think that this would be the logical thing to do but when my 996 got tapped and I needed an estimate, the shop that BH Porsche/Audi recommends are a bunch of scumbags. I can't imagine what kind of deal they worked out w/ the dealer to become their "official" body shop, and in fact they might do high-quality work but they are as sketchy as they come.

They wanted me to sign a bunch of docs basically signing over any insurance $$ to them before they would do an estimate. The adjuster told me privately to be really careful what I signed with those people.

Denis,

Do you recall the name of that shop to avoid? You can PM me, if you'd like.

The one time we had a little garage door scrape on the Acura, I asked the local Porsche dealership in Portland, and they referred me to a perfectly good shop. But I see what you're saying about how kickbacks can easily cloud better judgement and ethics.

I've used these guys and recommended them to friends. Very reasonable and do great work. They do a lot of studio vehicles.

I think your BIL needs to consider other cars. What does he have against Audi?

Heh heh. BIL's car isn't hurt too badly. (It's my sister's that has some damage.) His rear bumper was scuffed up already before his accident and it doesn't look too much worse, now. Though he's a bit bummed at having had two no-fault accidents in the past week.

This is the same A4 that was stolen a few years ago while he was living in Koreatown. Living in an apt, he parked his car on the street. He took the subway to work, so he might not have missed the car for a day or two. In the meantime, the car had been used as a getaway vehicle for some convenience store robberies. A bunch of unpaid parking tickets also accrued during that period of automotive AWOL. Ultimately the car was recovered and returned to him. But it took him almost a year for the DMV and various police jurisdictions to get those things wiped off his and his car's record, during which time he had no plates on the car--just a series of temporary tags.
