That is the JIC magic 933... It was developed for drifting but has also competed (and won) in some Time Attack events. It is a fast car on the track as well as going sideways...

Drifting requires an enormous amount of skill, and is no more futile, expensive, or stupid than road-course racing, or oval-track racing. Just 'cause the kids like it and there's a few awful movies out there that exploit it . . . . .

I'm not a big fan of drifting just because theres no clear way to tell 'who wins' like roadracing. If you are running on a track, the times show everything. But drifting is subjective. It's like the gymnastics in the Olympics. It does require plenty of skill. I was at VIR once when some drifter guys got out on the 1.1 mile patriot course. There was a guy in a Skyline R32 that was easy doing 100+ MPH down the front section, and pitching it sideways into the esses without losing any speed. That takes both skill and balls. It was pretty amazing.
