Finally, no more tickets for not wearing a seatbelt!
I was getting so tired of getting tickets for not wearing a seatbelt, I finally came up with a solution. Now I can drive with complete freedom, no more tickets.

Hoot!

Those have been around since the 80's.
I still have a problem with the government forcing me to do something for my own good. |
I'm not sure that'll help when they don't see the strap from your shoulder to the B pillar.
|
hey if you don't wear a seat belt, that is your business...kinda like smoking....but don't think that you have the right to sue if you get hurt by not wearing one.
Darwin eventually wins out |
Higgens should get one for riding his Duc.
|
now that's funny.
|
I only have lap belts in my old VW....
|
I dunno- I feel like in an emergency situation, you not wearing a seatbelt is making you a threat to others due to the reduced control you will have.
Now granted, I am about as anti-govt as you can be. I think helmet laws are stupid- if you want to smash your skull the gubmit shouldn't stop you, but in the case of seatbelts your choice MAY adversely affect another person. |

Do you have a pair of pants with a black strip across the front so you don't have to wear your seat belt? |

the, wear the seatbelt, dude. Please. Why aren't you wearing it now? Don't say "Sometimes you're safer if you're thrown out of the car" or "I don't want to be trapped in a burning car... or a car that goes in the water." Accidents in which you are safer if you aren't strapped in are long odds... one in ten thousand. That's like playing Russian Roulette with a revolver that has 10,000 chambers and only one is empty. I assume you wouldn't think that was very smart, right? |
Wearing a seatbelt is generally a good idea. ...generally.
One thing missed by the seatbelt zealots is that driving habits change (for the safer) when people feel less secure (in the vehicle) There are plenty of studies to show that people take bigger chances when they feel more protected. (study of the obvious, I know) This crack-down on non-seatbelt wearers is a sham. I wouldn't mind if the cops just nap people jack-assing it up (while not wearing) but this zero tolerance crap is as stupid as the school which strip-searched a 12y/o in search of (school contraban) ibuprophen ...in her underwear! (not found) |
I'd have no problem getting rid of seat belt laws if the offending person ceded all rights to getting their medical bills paid by their insurance if they displayed a pattern of not wearing them.
Same with helmet laws. I don't want to pay for someone's sorry a** if they aren't going to take some basic safety steps. People laugh at the Darwin Awards, but anytime you get in a car without a seat belt or on a bike without a helmet, you are greatly increasing the chances of death should you get into an accident. |
I thought that shirt meant "no breasts"

All that other stuff you said is just deflection. People drive differently if they're not strapped in? So what? It's still a bad idea because somebody could slam into them. Do you ever drive without your belts on? +1 on on everything Neilk said. The reasons the "crackdown" needs to continue is because at this point, the idiots who drive without them drive up insurance costs for everyone else in addition to making things less safe for other drivers because they can't always control their vehicle if they're not belted in. How is one supposed to steer and reach the pedals if you've been thrown into the passenger seat? |
I never wear a seat belt. Except when outrunning the po-lice.
|
What's your rationale, Bill?
|
i am pretty sure that The is kidding. then again, maybe not.
