Lost my best friend today.

Without a doubt, the toughest thing I've ever had to do.
Was up all night with my buddy Nacoma. His health and age(16) finally was too much for him and me to handle. His arthritis in his hips has been getting progressively worse the past couple of months. Last night was a nightmare. He was just in too much pain. Kept falling over. Called the emergency vet this morning, me and my wife took him in.
After talking it over we decided it would be the best thing for him. After crying hysterically for 10 mins I gave the vet the ok. Me and my wife spent some time alone with him. Then I laid on the blanket with him while the vet did what he had to.
The worst part was walking in the house and not seeing him there and his empty dog bed. Thats when it really hit me. Been cryin uncontrollably all day.

Rest in peace buddy, I will miss you greatly

Been there more times than I care to think about.

In time we are able to remember the good without the bad.

Sorry for your loss.

Solace
From the silence of your pain I heard my name
and on the wings of light I have come
to see the sadness in your eyes
that cry without tears

Can you see me, I am here
I will always be near you
to calm your shattered heart
and to make you smile at the memories

Do you feel me, perhaps a soft brush of fur
You ache to believe it's real
but you are afraid to hope
You brush away a strand of hair
But it was I, whispering.....

I am only here for but a moment
The silver thread gently quivers
I will leave behind my love in a dream
When you awaken, and without really knowing why

Your heart will know at last
That it is all right, for now
to say good-bye

Sorry to hear, Vin. Take comfort in that he isn't in pain anymore.

Vin - very sorry for the loss of your best bud. It won't help much, but just remember that you gave him a happy, safe and comfortable life for as long as possible. 16yrs is a great run for a Malamute or Husky. As hard as it is, you did the right thing by not letting him live longer in pain.

That boy was lucky to have such a caring and understanding master Vinny. Sorry for your loss - I know it's hard but you did right by him to the very end.

Vinny...one who has also been there knows your sorrow. Hang in, give it time, and keep those memories.

I can barely read this post without getting completely overwhelmed with emotion and thoughts of when that day may come for my boy Cayman.

Sorry to hear.
This is always a tough thing to do, but never forget that Nacoma is now at rest
and no longer in pain and you will have many fond memories of him.
It will get better with time.

Sorry to hear about it but at least he is not suffering now.

He had a good home and good family to enjoy life with.

Sorry for your loss. I try not to think about that our two pups won't be with us forever.

At least they always leave us with lots of good memories.

The price we pay for a dog in our lives is tears.

I always thought the price was a fair trade for the joy a dog brings.
