Good point, Hebrew...I had no problem getting a Mustang test drive. Told the dealer I was looking for a Bullitt...they didn't have one in stock. So, I was asked if I'd like to drive the Owner's personal GT that had been "bullitized" with cold air intake, sports seats, track-pak suspension, etc. While on the test drive, they searched other dealerships for a Bullitt...mine was in Spokane, WA.

Very accomodating folks. I guess they figured out I was a serious looker, not a tire kicker.

In 89 I walked into a ford dealer and test drive a mustang GT and drove the snot out of it. 30 later I bought it. First new car out of high school. I parked my daily driver which was a 71 914-6.
I didn't know alot about P cars back then other than my dads euro SC. I sold the 914 for 800.00 I think?
Wish I still have it.

Hmm, I guess any test drive might be a "joy ride" in your book. But as to whether I'm serious, yes I am serious enough to really consider the car. I am lucky enough to be able to do that despite the economic times and as you can see from the sig line still have cars from when I was in training. I also showed the head salesman a healthy bank balance. Still no go.

Paul, the Pcar dealership is Niello in Rocklin (Sac). Someone posted something negative about Niello BMW here sometime ago, so I don't know if it's the salesman, the dealership, or the overall company.

I agree that some element of the equation is the dealer figuring out that you're a serious buyer. But what I got from the Chebby guys is a blow-off and told that "sports stars buy this car". I didn't want to point out that any serious sports star would be buying Ferrari/Lambo/Aston Martin/Alfa 8c/Porsche GT2/3/Bentley. Only cheapskates like me are really considering a performance car from a semi-defunct company.

Art you should have told them that racing is a sport and if they had sold you the car you would be a "sports star". Then flipped them the bird and walked out.

Maybe, but being 18 you get to drive something much more interesting than some stupid car (18 year old females :p ).

Well, there are always fun plans one might imagine, like driving over there in a new Turbo, but it wouldn't really be worth it. I'd have to drive 30 minutes out of my way to show them, and they don't matter that much to me.

Art, you said it. Not worth the hassle unless you were seriously wanting one...
