I had a similar idea many years ago with my first gas powered 4WD car. It was setup to move up/down/left/right. At the time, I did not have enough channels on my radio to make it all work. Probably a good thing too! :D

Man, where was this guy for MJ's funeral today?

Quicksilver 07-08-2009 10:39 AM

What camera does he have that allows remote pointing of the camera?

I need to do this...

slodave 07-08-2009 11:15 AM

There are a bunch setups for this. Guys are building their own and there are a number of r/c related stores that sell them as well. It's more the mount than the camera.

I see the possibility for a game here. Set a big target on the ground and see who can put there rockets closest to the bullseye...

porsche4life 07-08-2009 11:55 AM

Oh what kind of plane was that?

slodave 07-08-2009 11:59 AM

I think it is an EasyStar foamy.

porsche4life 07-08-2009 12:02 PM

Hmm. I might have to investigate this. If I set up a field will you guys come play? lol. Dave there is enough wind here that you could run your glider.

slodave 07-08-2009 12:14 PM

The guy that made the firing system put some thought into it. It has to be armed before firing. He had posted some video of the setup on the prototyping board, but isn't talking about the details :).

As for the wind, I'm more of a thermal flier. Wind/slope soaring is boring for me. Ya gotta have some good thermals though...

porsche4life 07-08-2009 12:22 PM

Oh ya before the wind picked up today it was about 100 and you could just feel the heat going up. Problem is finding a day when the wind doesn't blow.

Installing flight Sim X on my laptop right now. I got to thinking after seeing that video that I wanted to do some flying and I was like DUH I have flight sim from my Desktop.

I had a feeling it's a bit of a no-no launching projectiles from an RC aircraft from a legal point of view?

slodave 07-08-2009 07:42 PM

The Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) does not allow it..

Here's an interesting project that was shut down...
