Before I even looked to see who posted this, I immediatly thought, "this has to be Oregon." I grew up in NY and Boston, and you'd think you'd see your fair share of weird stuff in a big city. None of it compares to what I see on a daily basis driving in OR.

You mean Oregon is more F'dUp than northern Maine. Must be something to do w/ the latitude.

I'd have to say that OR is much more f'd up than ME. My mom is a Maineiac (Portland area, oddly enough) and my Aunt has a place way up north (down east to you). There is definitely some crazy back wood schite that happens in ME, but in OR it happens constantly in plain sight - no searching required.

I had a nasty version of this for a year or so. I bought it off the original owner for $900 in the mid 80's. I just couldn't handle another project, so I sold it to a restaurant owner who parked it out front. It's been long gone from him as well.

I have a 1st gen Scion Xb and love it! The thing gets 32 mpg, is great for lugging the dogs around, and was ultra-cheap to buy! The thing has had zero problems and, it just so happens, I like the boxy look! I looked at the Element but it was more expensive and I didn't feel the bigger engine felt any better than the Xb's tiny 4 cylinder. I did like the fact you could hose out the interior though!

One of the first Scion Xb's that I saw had a custom license plate. "BENTO" :D

I've got the 'truck cab' soft top and a bikini top coming from merry ol' england for the Series III. Just taking the hard top off isn't really an option with the freak summer t-storms we get here.
If you're really looking for one, keep a close eye on craigslist (crazedlist.org is your friend and how I found this one) I snagged that for 6k with enough replacement parts to fill the bed.
The only problem I've had was the starter, but I bought it knowing the starter was bad and it just so happened that it included a replacement.

That yellow beast is a D90, I would cut my own left testicle off for one of those.

My 15 year old daughter has hinted that she wants an XB when she gets her license.
You should see the neat shade of blue she turned from holding her breath ;)

BTW I hate VW buses, so to each his own.
I've only seen one VW bus I would ever consider driving or owning, and it had 993 running gear, suspension, and brakes.
