Hay You Sci Fi Fans, Working Out a Story...
...a suit is developed for space and eventual time travel by manipulating genetics making the suit a living parasite and the host the traveler.
Has this concept been explored before in another work?

Yes...maybe not the time travel bit but definitely the parasite/symbiote spacesuit part. I think there's an example in The Ophiuchi Hotline by John Varley.
On a more mundane level there's the comic book series Spawn from Image Comics.

The Dune series used the idea of the "Spice" which was, well, a spice... that was really a hardcore drug (LSD...). There was a race of people who used so much of it that over 4000 years it deformed them into these new superpowerful ... things... creatures, that, because of this superdrug, are able to 'fold space' with just their minds.
There are only a few of these creatures, it's taken that they live very long and they are the key of the universe and to all interstellar travel. The problem is that they are these giant, hideous beasts because of it. One is shown in the original Dune movie, encased in an aerated spice chamber: ![]() ..It's not really what you are talking about (which sounds really goodl) but I was reminded of it and I always thought it was a unique concept.

My Favorite Martian. The newest version, I think, has that suit that is 'alive'.

Also ignoring the time travel aspect, the whole Spiderman / Venom / Carnage storyline.

I'm going to make a correction to my dune explanation, just so it doesn't go on err..
the guild navigators don't fold space with their mind, the ships do that; they use the spice drug to gain prescient vision on the jump through the space fold, ensuring correct target coordinates... as the space folding involves complex mathematics to compute the proper path through space to reach the other end safely. And in Frank Herbert's Dune series, there had been a ban on 'thinking machines' (complex computers) after an AI war thousands of years prior. So the only way to jump through the space folds safely was to use the mind power of the Navigators. sorry... I'm rambling. it's an interesting book/movie.
