Any Phoenix Pelicans want to kill some paper on Friday?

My wife is about to get certified to become an FFDO (Federal Flight Deck Officer), ie carry in the cockpit.

She wants to shoot a bit before her training so we're going to Shooters World on Friday afternoon. Any of you guys want to come out and play?

True story: She used to have a 45 cal Glock and signed up for a training session at the range when we lived in Atlanta. The instructor was an old retired gunnery Sargent. He started the lesson by having her empty her clip into the silhouette at the end of the range. After watching her and looking over the tight pattern at the center of the target, he said, "Lady, I can't teach you nothing." Lesson over.

i love feel good stories! wish i could join you. congrats on her becoming a gun-toting CCW "you screw with my freeking plane" and im a gonna blow you to hell "kind of woman!

remind her to religiously rotate magazines and rounds every week at home next to the fire, with the dog sitting there, and a poster of bin laden 25 feet away so she can practice DRY FIRE EXERCISES! LOL!

remember our motto: double tap to center mass, double tap to head, double tap to center mass, if threat not over double tap to lower femoral artery ie. their wearing body armor. head shots are ALWAYS ACCEPTABLE AND GAIN MASSIVE POINTS ON EMPLOYEE CONDUCT REPORT!

i wanna be on her flights! that gives me a good WARM AND FUZZY feeling!

I think the standard issue for the FFDO program is HK USP40.

Is this the same Shooter's World near Thomas and I-17? I was there Sat. and there was an hour-long wait, even with the gun show going on. I need to break in a new SIG P226. What time are you going?

Cool! Being a FFDO with a gun will also come in handy if the plane ever has any snakes on it.

I'm guessing we'll get there around 3:00 or so. I'll consult with Capt. Tammy later today.

I think Shooters World is at I17 and Indian School.

Looks like we're going to be there right around 3:00.

I'm in. Don't check in without me.

Joeaksa 07-17-2009 07:14 AM

Hmmm, have not been to the range in a while. Let me see how things are going around that time. Damm its going to be warm out this afternoon...

Wish I could join you guys, I like shooting at that place except for the diamond plate bench surfacing.

Sadly I'll be stuck at the office...

LeeH 07-17-2009 08:24 PM

Well that was fun! It's been a long time since my wife has gone shooting, but she's still got it. I'm sure after a week at the Fed's training center she'll be even better!

Rick - thanks for letting me fire off your cannon a couple of times. Tammy was impressed by the flash!

when i make my next flight reservations i am REQUESTING your wifes FLIGHTS ONLY! i dont care if shes going to a none destination location...................i will enjoy my SAFE FLIGHT!

good shooting. now clean that damn barrel, wipe down the mags, blow compressed air thru entire weapon and lube it. then load all rounds into mag except one. ready to go.

Rick Lee 07-18-2009 07:51 AM

I marred up my pristine P226 when I forgot to turn the takedown lever 90 deg, released the slide catch and - wheeeeee - my slide and barrel shot about 10 ft. beyond the firing line. I was swapping my .357SIG and .40 barrels, which is how that happened. So the slide now has a good nick on it where it hit the concrete. Guess that means I need to take it all to Robar for a refinish in NP3 now.
