Yeah, I bartended full time for the first 4 years from 1995 until 2000 and part time for the last year. I think I made a total of about 5 rusty nails during that time (and I think most of them for the same guy over the course of a couple of months). It's not terribly common these days, even with the older crowd (which is who I bartended for).
