Goodguys Indy

Dad and Brother got to drive on the speedway and down Indy Raceway Park's dragstrip (eighth mile). Dad has the 1940 Ford convertible and my brother has the 1946 Ford convertible. My brother let his wife Michelle race against dad on the dragstip. Eighth mile conversions to quarter mile give dad a 14 second quarter mile in the 40!

Obviously, not a stock '40 there...350/350?

Garage
first time I EVER drove a car was at IMS. My dad used to be a USAC timing official, and he was pals with some folks down in Gasoline Alley. I was 14 years old, and the daughter of the CEO of a famous racing sponsor let me drive her Mercedes. She rode shotgun while I drove her Benz around the track!

14 year old kid, hot blond riding shotgun, and driving at the IMS....couldn't get any better.

Right, I wish I could say that it's a 351/C6...but you are correct. 350/350. The engine has a 400 crank and other modifications to make the internals larger. The car has keyless entry, power top, power windows and locks, a/c, heat, cd changer and other mods. Even has the Cadillac trunk latch so that when you shut it, it pulls the trunk closed electronically. If you've shut a Caddy's trunk you'll know what I mean. Fun car. Now, my brother's car is a 302/C4.

Lookin' REALLY nice...nothing wrong with 350/350...that's why so many choose to do it. I love the "look" your dad created...especially the red steelies with beauty rings and small caps. So "period correct"...

My brother's car is the same way. Steel wheels and Coker wide white walls. I like the look too. Both cars also have new high tech wheels but they haven't been on the cars for a long time.

Yes...the steelies just make the car look more "real"....it could cruise the gut in "American Graffiti" and not be out of place.
