I think if it was a little cheaper (a lot actually), it could be a real commuter solution.

What do you guys think?

Michael

Oh I like that.

Honestly, where would the world of transportation be without the Germans?

carlosR 07-25-2009 12:11 PM

Wow but way too expensive. Wait a few years and the knock-offs will bring it into most folks reality. Cool idea, I want one too.

All right, I LOL'd! ;)

island911 07-25-2009 12:34 PM

Yes, cool, because you don't look at all stupid pedaling to make an electric motor go. How progressive.

GTI - green text implied

legion 07-25-2009 12:36 PM

OK, that's really cool.

Rick Lee 07-25-2009 12:43 PM

It's a cool toy, but how many successful people got that way by spending 10x what they need to spend to get a vehicle that goes about the same speed? At a top speed of 80 km/hr, that bike is not allowed on the highways. So you're better off buying a moped, Vespa or 50-80cc motorcycle for a tiny fraction of the price. The fuel cost savings on this invention would be negligible over several lifetimes, given that it won't be doing long distances, since it can't use the highways. Seems like a big waste to me. But then I think the Smart Car should be named the Dumb Car too.

Geronimo '74 07-25-2009 12:44 PM

Would one need a drivers license for that thing???

Uhm, no officer, it's a push bike....

m21sniper 07-25-2009 12:45 PM

$50k bucks?

Yeah....right.

scottmandue 07-25-2009 01:45 PM

My brother has a electric bike/moped... pretty sure it didn't cost that much.

svandamme 07-25-2009 02:14 PM

can i have one like that , but powered by something like a JATO rocket? that would be way more cool.

That's friggin' ridiculous. All this guy did is put a new user interface on the electric motorcycle.

On the other hand, people are stupid. They flock to those ridiculous "smart" cars like lemmings when a VW TDI seats 2.5 times more passengers and gets better mileage.

m21sniper 07-25-2009 02:55 PM

Every time i see a smart car i must resist the (very strong) urge to rip the driver out of the "vehicle" and savagely beat him.

Those things irk me just a little.

svandamme 07-25-2009 02:57 PM

they have a new thing in Amsterdam called, "toss the Smart in the canal's"

svandamme 07-25-2009 03:22 PM

imho , a'dam is overrated

it's like going to the MGM studio's theme park in Orlando, instead of the MGM studio's backstage , for real.

GH85Carrera 07-25-2009 04:01 PM

If it cost just $2,500.00 I might be interested.
