10+

He has dropped in a few few times but gets bored with all the howdys!

I don't know what the "rules of admission" are in this thread, but tell me, is this a sniper-free zone?

GH85Carrera 05-09-2011 09:05 AM

We sure hope so.

BRPORSCHE 05-09-2011 09:10 AM

I don't think Snipe dares enter these waters Tom.

porsche4life 05-09-2011 09:48 AM

We'd run him off...

Geronimo '74 05-09-2011 10:05 AM

Don't say his name too much or he will magically appear....:)
He visited here before, and can come again AFAIAC, but I don't think it would work out with the thread youngling... ;)

No real rules other than then to show your face once, and even that is not really enforced....
I don't think we want/need those hefty discussions you can find in a lot of ohter threads, over here. This is a comfy place, fun, relax.

I think he does but he just isn't too interested in what's been going on here.
Our thread is a bit of an aquired taste, I guess.

Geronimo '74 05-09-2011 10:09 AM

Ok, wish me luck, I still have a bit of a cough going on but I am going to the gym and work out.
Need to look my best for all them American honeys when I'm there... :)

Morning G-man. Ain't antibiotics grand.

A Dr. friend of mine was telling me about a patient of his (no names of course) that was in China doing some sort of research. He came down with pneumonia. He was in some remote village hospital and the Drs were doing the ancient Chinese herbs and spices bit on him. That helped about as much as you would expect. He finally talked to the one Dr. at the hospital that spoke English. He called my Dr. friend. and he told them to get some tetracycline, and what dose to give him. They could actually get that there and in just a few days he was doing much better.

Workin' for a livin'!

Waiting for a call from Florida, so we can finish this POS install.

nynor 05-09-2011 10:21 AM

what are you installing? did i miss something?

slodave 05-09-2011 10:30 AM

Installing a POS system at a pet store. Uses software from a guy in Florida. He needs to log in, do a special backup from the old POS and import to the new. I took a chance with the old bar code scanner and thermal printer, picked up a centronics to USB and PS2 to USB and hoped it worked. It did.

A friend of mine brought over a Dell laptop for me to try to fix that is a nice machine. It came with Vista Ultimate installed. He hated Vista so much we put Ubuntu on it. He brought the original Dell recovery disks. We did a fresh clean install, and downloaded over 160 updates. Once all the updates are installed Vista will just blue screen and re-boot. We throw in the recovery disk and repair, and more updates. It has been at least 4 cycles and it finally looks like the updates are done and it boots without a blue screen.

The ONLY thing he wants to do with Vista is run iTunes and sync his 3 iPhones, 2iPads, 4iPods and Apple TV at his house. His entire family has the iBug, but he does not want to buy an Apple laptop. He does not want to spend the money to buy a Win7.

Now we will install Ubuntu on it again and make it a dual boot computer. He uses Ubuntu most of the time but Ubuntu will not run iTunes.

porsche4life 05-09-2011 10:52 AM

Dude needs a MacBook....

slodave 05-09-2011 10:54 AM

Jeez. If he's only running Apple SW, he'd be better off with a Mac.

nynor 05-09-2011 10:54 AM

vista is crap. why not put XP on there, or win7, and be done with it? is he that cheap that he won't buy the software to do it? will itunes run in a WINE window on ubuntu?

nynor 05-09-2011 10:55 AM

hell, install the mac os on it and be done with it.

GH85Carrera 05-09-2011 11:03 AM

iTunes will not run under Wine on Ubuntu.

All the other options will cost money. As long as iTunes loads up it does not matter at all what OS he is running. Part of it is the hard head opinion, it SHOULD work just fine with no cash outlay.
