Funny how when we're younger we act older, when we're older we act younger.

We were digging in the archives again so I will bore you guys with another cool photo.

The area on the right where the tower is, is the original Wiley Post airport founded by Wiley Post. He is the man that discovered the jet stream and did the first high altitude flights.

The open area right in the middle is the remains of his airport after the land became more valuable as a residential area. The current Wiley Post airport is just a few miles further west.

This is a vertical view of the airport. That is a drive in theater across the street on the left.

I looked up the N number of 15224C and it came back as a 1972 Piper in Florida. Since this picture was shot on October 7th 1956 it can't be this Bonanza. :)

Some of the other photos showed the full N number of the V tail Bonanza.

slodave 10-27-2011 02:13 PM

That Bonanza may never have had the chance for the tail fix and fell out of the sky at some point.

GH85Carrera 10-27-2011 02:16 PM

Most likely. They called them Dr. Killers for a reason.

I suspect it was recycled into a beer can many years ago.

Porsche-poor 10-27-2011 02:24 PM

Tail fix?

Rick V 10-27-2011 02:36 PM

Evening guys

Porsche-poor 10-27-2011 02:39 PM

how are things?

Rick V 10-27-2011 02:42 PM

I had one of those days where nothing went right, everybody in the shop had a rough day. Mine ended with the FNG deciding he wanted to jack with me even though one of the other fellows (a really big dude) advised him to leave me alone. He left with his tail between his legs.
Got hung behind a tractor on the way home and spent 20 miles at 20 miles an hour. But I have my boots off and it is looking up.
Yourself?

slodave 10-27-2011 02:53 PM

I told you to crawl back under the covers. But did you listen? Noooo.....

Rick V 10-27-2011 02:54 PM

Go ahead rub it in.

Porsche-poor 10-27-2011 03:02 PM

My day so far has not been that bad but there are 2 more hours left....

Rick V 10-27-2011 03:09 PM

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeenty of time for it to all go to crap in a basket. :D

Porsche-poor 10-27-2011 03:11 PM

not if I stay right here and wait for your next post.

Rick V 10-27-2011 03:14 PM

I hope it was all you wished for and well worth the wait....
That didn't mean to be as sarcastic as it sounded.

slodave 10-27-2011 03:23 PM

Business is just about done for the day, all 45 minutes of it. :D

Rick V 10-27-2011 03:24 PM

I hope it was profitable

slodave 10-27-2011 03:26 PM

I hope so too! About $6,500 in computers, monitors and a printer ordered. There's going to be a lot of hours to transfer data, install programs and get these new workstations setup.

Rick V 10-27-2011 03:28 PM

Sa-weet

slodave 10-27-2011 03:31 PM

Install is scheduled for Nov 11-13. I won't be able to collect on this for few weeks. :D
