G-man, why the hell would you need new cyllinders?
As far as i know you haven't evewn disassembled your engine, so how would you know the old ones are worn out? They are Nikasil, they probably are good to re-ring.

besides , stick ot Mahle, don't go crazy with that engine build, it's the first one, it's not a track car...

I'm going 3.4 so new P/C's is best. No re-ringing here.... (anybody need some Mahle Cylinders and pistons??)

I'm not planning on rebuilding every six months so I have to do what I can with this one!

Had the last root canal and it shattered in my jaw.

can't use em, big spigots don't fit the case i have

anyway, i'de stick to Mahle if i were you, if you ever think about selling the thing, it will be a visibile difference with Nickies.. and that means you have to explain that.. possibly to somebody who doesn't know what Nickies are..

Geronimo '74 11-25-2009 09:33 AM

I starting to lean towards Mahle, cause I can get a good deal on them.

Have you ever heard of Wossner cylinders? 9ff uses them and they're supposed to be good.
Still leaning towards Mahle though.

svandamme 11-25-2009 10:31 AM

good deal ? where?
Can you check if they have the 30 RSR 10,5:1 with 83mm spigots?

the_webbster 11-25-2009 12:24 PM

Well. I did it.

Just paid for my car!

I think I get to say "my car" now!!

Check the FVD website, I can get a good deal on everthing on there, delivery once a week.
I'm friends with a shop owner close by. Good mechanic, good racing pilot, straight up guy.

Congratulations Jeff, I'm feeling some serious Turbo-envy!!
You must be thrilled right now! Good for you!
Now correct your signature line, loose the "soon to be"

the_webbster 11-25-2009 12:54 PM

How's this?

slodave 11-25-2009 12:55 PM

Don't jinx yourself...

the_webbster 11-25-2009 12:57 PM

oh, $hit, I didn't think of that.

like maybe the boat will sink? how long do I have to wait?

slodave 11-25-2009 01:01 PM

Just don't change your avatar.... Yet....

the_webbster 11-25-2009 01:06 PM

OK, I'll run with it for now. I think it's a pretty fair statement - it's MY OTHER CAR. it's just not here yet!

G and Stijn, I think we need to do a Stijn Meet. I have a dream of driving this thing down to Europe although already dreading the mileage of such a trip!

svandamme 11-25-2009 01:23 PM

you just focus on getting the thing, and then get used to it before you plan any big runs.
They didn't call em yuppy widow makers for no reason... It ain't a Honduh you know.

G, i know FVD, but that website is terrible, all blah, no specs.
like they list 30 > 32, but they don't mention what the bloody diameter is...
And sure, compression figures are nice to know, but i need to know what kind of valve pockets they have...
It's no use buying a 3.0 10.5:1 set , if it turns out that the pistons are for Motronic or CIS.

and when you click "details" you get the same for each set , eg, a boring pitch about how it is a complete set
AAARGH i can tell that from the price, i want to know how much mm the barrels are... duh.

It's just sloppy

either way, from the looks of it , they don't list the barrels/pistons i need.

But it's to soon, i'm don't want to start calling around for expensive parts when i don't have the cash laying ready to spend... That would just annoy the sellers, and drive me nuts if i do find what i need...

slodave 11-25-2009 01:25 PM

Mileage???? 234,xxx on mine... All the internals are original..

It enjoys autocross these days...

svandamme 11-25-2009 01:33 PM

dibs on the Fuchs, if you stink it up in Eau Rouge.
Try and keep the rear ones intact if you will

the_webbster 11-25-2009 01:41 PM

gotcha.

1. Fuchs - Stijn.
2.

Seriously though, isnt it just about keeping your right foot in?

Rick V 11-25-2009 02:06 PM
