Pete, I remember the days when airline travel was a pleasure and fast. Now it is a cross county bus ride. I hate flying.

Good luck on your last leg.

Thanks, I got myself rebooked online while everyone else was crowding the counter. Good to know the tricks...

I remember my mom and dad dressing us up in the Sunday finest when we flew, it was an event. Now its spandex flip flops and seatbelt extenders.

As long as I have a seat out, I'm good.

When I was a kid one of my earliest memories was our flight to Hawaii in early 1959. We flew in a military C-54 facing backwards & unpressurized. My dad was in full uniform and my mom was in a dress, high heels with gloves and a hat. She was dressed like she was going to a formal dinner.

There were just two hotels in Honolulu on Waikiki back then.

Another night of restful sleep and feeling great today. Tons of work to get done on various things, but it's all good.

The phone is pretty cool, no substantive advantages over the T-bolt, but it does seem a little slimmer and is most definitely snappier with the dual core processor (don't know the specs, but the screen seems a little more crisp as well). Miss the T-bolt kickstand though...

964 cams were like new, so were my old rockers. He said to go ahead and use them, no problem.
But it's always good to have them checked.

that's no good... used rockers on new cams will have a high risk of bad wear due to uneven breakin-wear..

The rockers no longer have the right surface hardening, the cams w(sh)ould. So they might not break in right and potentially cause em to wear like the picture you showed (though that is an extreme example)..

This is why every 911 engine that comes apart, should have it's rockers numbered so they are reinstalled in exactly the same spot on the exact same cam lobe.

Usually when people send in a cam to be rewelded and reground, they would send the rockers with the cam, to get those reconditioned and rehardened as well.

On my engine i got new cams, and new rockers to go with them..It's just not worth the hassle..

reusing OEM, 20-30 year old rockers on a brand new or reground cam is asking for trouble.. seriously.

Stijn, I remember assembling an IKEA bed with my dad when I was about 10-12.....believe I learned almost every 4 letter word that day.

David, my prayers are still with you. IME, the dread of knowing it's going to happen is far worse than handling the grief of it actually happening..

svandamme 12-09-2011 09:17 AM

It wasn't to bad actually.. I look at Ikea kits, as building kits for adults.
I used to like Lego and Meccano as a kid.. this is similar..

This just doesn't sound right.

Well, if I put Fuchs Raeder I believe that was too long for the signature to be accepted with the forum settings so I went with plural of Fuchs.

That's the real test. You could have built a whole mother bed out if what we had left over!

Flieger 12-09-2011 10:27 AM

Well, I changed my signature for G man.

I never was able to see Stijn's avatar for him. It was removed for some reason.

My TV credenza came as a kit. I had to take it apart and modify the kit because the glass front area did not vent well enough and got so hot my wireless router would turn itself off. Stupid Apple stuff, turns itself off instead of burning up.

RKDinOKC 12-09-2011 10:30 AM

G - she said she couldn't come on fishing tackle. heh heh, heh, heh.

Oooh, Bubba is feisty.. he just ran off with a piece of smoke chicken, kept Boris from nabbing it.
You have to understand that Boris is a Berserk-er when there's food around..top skills by Bubba.

I think he entered that phase in life, where he's fully grown up, confident, and not taking chit from them damned youngsters ...
He knows he's big, he knows he's got muscle and he figured out a way to channel his frustration in a nice can of whoop ass.
