Nice job, Stick,
She sounds nice.

porsche4life 12-11-2011 02:35 PM

Looks good Richard. Wish I'd had working brakes to come play.

Flieger 12-11-2011 03:17 PM

Nice video. The funny thing is, though, that my mind just cannot link that audio to the concept of Porsche.:)

Rick V 12-11-2011 03:24 PM

Brrrrrrrrrrrr

GH85Carrera 12-11-2011 03:35 PM

It was a fun course today. I was within a second of Richard when I left. I just have so many projects to finish at home I can't spend all day out having fun.

I still have to get my laptop to talk to my El Camino's fuel injection computer. Suddenly it is like a mad wife, no talking at all. I don't yet know if it is a hardware or software problem. :(

I also have to figure out what manifold bolts best fit my application. I would prefer to put in all new bolts with the new manifolds. My wife REALLY REALLY wants the old dead engine off of the floor and out of the way. I need to get it off of the floor and on the engine stand so I can take it apart. I have to know just how worn out it really is.

Rick V 12-11-2011 03:38 PM

Glen check to make sure you have everything grounded properly, that would make the "Mad wife: issue and a very common thing to miss when doing an engine swap

GH85Carrera 12-11-2011 03:42 PM

I would have a cool video to post of my autocross run but my worthless pit crew screwed up. I was assured the mount for my iPhone was in the car. Of course it was sitting on the shelf in the garage when I got home. I would fire that worthless pit crew but I have yet to pay myself so I can't fire myself. Even if I fired myself I don't think I can find a replacement to work that hard for no money.

GH85Carrera 12-11-2011 03:54 PM

Rick, the engine works great, and my Auto-Xray can read the data stream just fine. It is just my scabbed on cable that hooks up to the serial port to the laptop that does not communicate. There is virtually no documentation, and what I have found I think I am close to making it work.

The auto-Xray only captures a few seconds of data. If I can get the laptop to read the data I can do a start from stone cold up to full operating temperature. The company that sold me the system can tweak the program to get the transmission to go into lockup at the perfect speed, keep the performance of the engine at optimum and just optimize the program overall.

The real goal is to get it to read a future dyno run so I can have them tweak the system from idle to WOT.

Gotcha I misunderstood what you meant. So far as firing yourself I did that once and in a moment of weakness I rehired myself. What a mistake that was
