Why not? You had fun, and didn't catch anything right?

1 It does not use cynicism or sarcasm like the usual demotiviational posters do

2 Most people in fact i dare to say cannot name more then 2 or 3 people on the left.
Hawkings, Einstein are obvious
Darwin, Carl Sagan, Freud, Tesla much less obvious, they are not instantly recognizable faces.

Marie Cury , is not recognizable at all from the pic

Thomas Payne, well, it's a painting really, i doubt anybody can be expected to recognize each painting of each founding father of the US...

Then there are a couple of people that are less then world famously known to all of mankind, even to the more educated folks
Like Christopher Hitchens, who is an author, journalist

And last but not least, Ayaan Hirshi ali, who is a rather controversial figure , born in Somalia, got away to Holland (reportedly with a fake story), rose to political career and is now mostly a feminist, islam criticizer, writer...

Now, all those things considered, i find that a rather odd collection of people put forward proof of ignorance, especially since most people that repost it , probably don't know half of those people on the left either...

so Is it really a social experiment, eg, to see who reposts it without pointing out the rather dodgy setup of the poster?

I recognized 7/10 people on the left. I missed the column of three with the lady, Payne, and the guy on the bottom. Probably since they are not scientists. I do recognize the one on the right from a pistachios commercial. I had never seen her prior to that.

svandamme 02-26-2012 11:39 AM

You could spot Marie Cury from that tiny pixelated thumbnail a picture? right off the bat?

I knew Hawkings , Einstein, Tesla, Darwin, and Ayaan hirshi ali, i only knew her because i lived in Holland.. and she was plenty on tv there. like i said, controversial figure.

Never heard of Sagan, Payne, Hitchens, before..

Cury and Freud just weren't recognizable to me, Freud simply does not look that particulary different from most other bald bearded dudes

and Curie was a bad pic. Can't even tell from the pic tht it's a woman.

This picture would have been obvious

Flieger 02-26-2012 11:42 AM

I knew Curie because of the context of famous scientists, I could tell she was a woman in a lab some time ago (black and white). Freud I was a little unsure of but that was my first instinct at seeing the picture, again from context and probably seeing an image of him a long time ago which I have stored in my subconscious.

I could recognize at least half, but who the hell is that on the left?

svandamme 02-26-2012 11:51 AM

which one Sid, there's about 10 people on the left.

Nevermind, I get it now. :)

porsche4life 02-26-2012 11:52 AM

Argh, 5 on the left, one on the right......

Who is the bimbo on the right?

Flieger 02-26-2012 11:53 AM

No, your other left. Who is on the right?

Flieger 02-26-2012 11:54 AM

I thought you meant you recognized 'half', as in, the half on the right, as in Snookie. And the other half you did not. Therefore a humorous statement.

Flieger 02-26-2012 11:55 AM

Sure, edit your post and make me look like a crazy.

Flieger 02-26-2012 11:56 AM

I'm not crazy, really.
