rick, what's your candid opinion of the boxster? I had driven them on short jaunts when I still did automotive work, but never a drive of real substance. that's one of my springtime cars that i'm considering...
|
Mine is for sale (shameless plug)
I don't like a car that is balanced like these are (My 944s was the same way) other than that they are tanks. I have had very little problems with mine (second water pump though). All in all they are great cars, I have had mine on several road trips including a 5 hour drive to FastPats and felt just fine when getting out. I wish they had a bigger fuel tank but that is about my biggest gripe with the cars. They are very fun in a reliable, turn key type of way. My customers who own them all love them. Don't let the stigma of being a girls car scare ya off, these things can hold their own. I would not want one as a primary car but in the roll of weekender/getaway car, they are very hard to beat. I wish I could keep mine but that is another story. |
interesting....in my (limited) research, i've been noticed that pre-2000 ones had engine issues. my biggest concern is the feasibility of wrenching on it. with the 911's, dropping an engine (if need be) isn't THAT bad of a job. also, parts costs for the boxster kind of scare me a bit. i don't have a problem turning wrenches (heck..i used to do it for a living), but on a headache scale of 1-10, where would routine mx stuff be?
|
They are easier to work on than a 911. much easier. All the pre 2000 engine issues are gone now. They have run their course and are no longer in service.
|
Although sometimes difficult to exactly pinpoint, I suppose most people are missing something in their lives.

yeah, in my case : cash , money, moolah Those that say that Money doesn't bring happyness, haven't seen me on days that i do have money, trust me, i'll be happy that day! And i don't even care if that means i should be labelled "materialistic", hell, i want the money so i can buy materials for my projects, so "materialistic" , i like that. |
You just need a Boxster drivin' woman. :)
|
Not going to happen Rick, i'de only take a Boxster so i can sell it for 911 parts.
Which would not be a good investment since shipping it cross atlantic and import duties would screw up the math.. Then the woman would screw up the rest, they eat, need make up and what not... nagging... Hell, i might as well just give up on the idea of a 911 altogether... I'de even have money to spare if i opted for that way...and no nagging... |
Ya gotta keep the 911 idea alive. You have already bought too many parts. You are married to your future car. :)
|
Gotta close the parts gap with G-man.
He keeps getting distracted with nookie, he may never get his done... Man that would be funny if i could get me a running engine before he does. |
That would be killer, although he may still be feeling better about his time spent.
BTW, what did we get Vicky for Christmas? |
dunno, don't care, she didn't get me nothing either. :D
|
Yeah your right, I was completely passed over as well. Humph
|
Who Hoo I am over 1,200 posts in this thread. Post whore? Your damn skippy.

Have managed not to leave the house all day.
did muk about a bit with the shower... the tub is now in final position, had to get some gyproc off first because the corner wasn't exactly 90 degrees... and the tub wouldn't fit in the corner without a half inch gap... That's covered now... need to get me more ytong blocks, then rebuild that stupid shower wall... Then tile it up, which will be a pita.. damned tile seller " get the 60x60cm ones, less grouting to do" in retrospect, i should have gotten the smaller ones, cause tile cutters that go up to 60cm are expensive to buy, or even rent. progress is a slow process. |
