No, I don't wonder. I just lament how it is so and how I am doing it to myself. And yet I do not wish to change my ways.

About the only snack I could think of that I would leave the house and go to a 7-11 for.

Hey, we've got a box of those in the freezer, too! A couple cartons of ice cream, some of those frozen chocolate-covered banana slice thingies from Trader Joe's, and a couple boxes of mochi.

porsche4life 04-25-2012 09:40 PM

Can I move in with you Doc?

Flieger 04-25-2012 09:41 PM

So yes, over the years I have pretty much removed myself from all forms of typical socializing outside of schoolwork related meetings. That's why I am finding this so hard.

Noah930 04-25-2012 09:42 PM

Always, Sid. Just gotta move the kids around a bit to make room for you. Won't even have to bring you own transportation.

Flieger 04-25-2012 09:43 PM

So you gonna buy that 993TT and give Sid the 930 to drive?

Ah, so you feel like you're on the outside, looking in. That's a tough piece of ice to crack.

But you gotta start somewhere (or not--it's your life). The benefit of college is that it's such a new thing for everyone involved. Well, except for maybe those 5th and 6th year seniors. Other than the Greek system, no one knows you're on the outside looking in. Certainly not the girl sitting in front of the library during finals week taking a break from studying. Or join some sort of group/club. They always have informal social stuff going on. (Just pick something that's somewhat coed, so it's not a total sausagefest.) Go play ultimate frisbee. Join the sailing club. Join the rock-climbing or outdoor education club. Let one thing lead to another.

Arg! 92% on the practice test tonight. I missed 5 out of 60.

That 993TT was in-freakin-credible. I just need to win the lottery (even a small jackpot) to buy it. I think market value for a low-mileage one has got to be around $60K, no?

Also would need garage space for it. Either the wife would have to park in the driveway, or maybe I could park one of the 911s at my parents'.

Funny how people on your side of the pond like Jeeps, and those on this side like Defenders.

i like defenders more then jeeps
but the jeeps are much cheaper to buy

tweezers74 04-25-2012 10:04 PM

Embraer 04-25-2012 10:06 PM

Dave....excellent job. bravo zulu.

slodave 04-25-2012 10:09 PM

Thanks, Mike.

Never a dull day above the greater SW.

slodave 04-25-2012 10:10 PM

We just had our minor 0G moment in a micro burst. Not a big deal, but my notepad became airborne for a moment.

Embraer 04-25-2012 10:11 PM

on climb out, he strangely asked to avoid all clouds. he was picking up icing. i asked if his de-ice was working, to which he replied no. climbed him to 37,000', allowing him to spin his way up instead of staying on course. once he got up there, he was still concerned about icing and his engine performance. then said one of his engines lost power, declared an emergency. asked if he wanted to go to palm springs (closest airport) but instead wanted to go back to LAX. makes sense...more chance for MX there. never a dull day.

i flew a 172 down to texas one time (from indiana). no flight plan, never talked to atc. one of the harriest moments. got caught in updrafts over arkansas. was doing 3000 feet per minute vertically through 14,000 feet, with full nose down. i had to kick the rudder and spin the plane to keep from climbing. not fun.
