I hate car fires. Been in a few, and wasn't fond of any of them

slodave 01-20-2013 05:20 PM

Car-B-Q!

azzarule 01-20-2013 05:22 PM

also remember as a little kid being bundled out of Dads FC Holden as it went up in flames, at an intersection in Melbourne. Dad loved that car.

Dave its only a BBQ if you forget to get the f*** out of there

Drove home from work one afternoon on a stinking hot summers day. Got out to the very strong smell of raw fuel. Lifted the bonnet and a steady stream of fuel ran out of the sound deadener and down the firewall.

Good thing the car was front wheel drive and the exhaust manifold was at the front of the engine. Very luck she no go boom!

The high pressure hose to the injector rail had perished, and a jet of fuel was shooting straight up like a fountain.

The traffic reports often refer to car fires as car-b-q's out here.

Holy crap that was fun. I went to my sons and decided to drag the targa out. We had a cabin fire in the heat tubes. Turned all the fans on and nailed the gas. managed to blow that out, although it was hard to drive with glowing embers blowing around the car. Glad I left the top here.
On the way home the right front caliper caught fire.
I think I might have a small amount of work to do before she gets back on the road

that sounds like a chinese proverb.

Still gonna keep my eye open for a 900ss engine and forks, but not huge priorities.....wait until I can find a steal.

forget the 900SS engine. get the 1000DS engine and call it a day. yep, it will bolt right on. you will need the computer, etc.

I am having another day off, lol!!

Although the midget and the Hubby are as well, so it wont be too quiet a day, should get the Hubby and the midget washing the salt off the car, yep good idea.

well night all, walking around DC has made me tired, and the excitement of watching the Ravens go to the super bowl, well its just too much for me, I'm going to bed to get over it!!

Night gents and Tweez

Massive price differences in 900ss and 1000ds engines and the 900 can be tweaked to 1000ds power pretty easily. Plus, if I get a power commander now, it'll still work with the 900

nynor 01-20-2013 06:14 PM

fair enough, joe.

HHI944 01-20-2013 06:23 PM

And the headers 1000 headers are needed whereas the 900 headers will fit the 750 so I can do the whole thing in stages

i didn't know that.

HHI944 01-20-2013 06:41 PM

The 1000 headers are just a hair to big for the 750, but 900 headers is a common upgrade for 750s

nynor 01-20-2013 06:46 PM

you've been doing some research! what did you find that i can do to my 900SS?

HHI944 01-20-2013 07:02 PM

On the cheap: open the air box (they sell a frame piece to hold the filter or you can hack the stock top half) have your cans cored and ecu reflashed. If you have a good indy shop that'll work on Ducks the reflash and coring shouldn't be more than 400-500.......half what a good set of cans and a power commander will cost

Diy, but more expensive: same on the airbox, power commander and a set of cans.....FBF and Termi are awesome, but 1k+.......it pains me to say it, but yoshi makes some pretty solid cans for the SS line.....

The 900 headers are freer flowing, bit can still benefit from the crossover being opened. Any muffler shop can do that fairly cheap.

HHI944 01-20-2013 07:11 PM

Honestly, a set of cans wont do **** until you either open up the stock headers at the crossover or get aftermarkets.....the stock cans on Ducatis are generally made by remus and fairly free flowing, the real constriction point is that damn crossover.
An ecu reflash can get rid of the rev limiter as well.....

My last 750ss was pure track beast.....11:1 wiseco pistons, heads milled, ported and polished and ecu entirely reflashed with Termis........absolute torque beast, but pushing the limits of the engine.....it was a ticking time bomb....

GH85Carrera 01-20-2013 07:19 PM

I will go to work tomorrow. Mrs. Carrera's is off for the MLK holiday.

Outback Porsche 01-20-2013 08:15 PM

Woohoo!

Party at my place.

My storeman just handed me a bottle of Tequila. :):):)
