Morning
|
wow, 8.8 Quake in Chili...
Boy the CNN "expert" is an moron... he happily goes on to say, that this one is an 8.8... and that's more then the 7 they had in Haiti..well duh. "an 8 would be 32 times stronger then a 7.. and this is an 8.8, that's almost 64 times stronger" WRONG. It's more like 600 times stronger! 7 = 32 Megaton of TNT x32 8 = 1 Gigaton of TNT x32 9 = 32 Gigaton of TNT an 8.8 by my calculations, that would be around 19 Gigatons... or roughly 600 times stronger then the one in Haiti. |
not cool

Someone needs to smack Markus with a Scandinavian ski pole...

i'm thinking he's got himself a new woman to dominate him... we'll see him back in full effect after he's divorced again: plucked financially, and emotionally needy

CNN keep dishing out bad information...
Pacific under tsunami threat after massive 8.8 quake strikes Chile - CNN.com Pacific under tsunami threat after massive 8.8 quake strikes Chile February 27, 2010 7:37 a.m. EST "That quake was magnitude 7.0. The Chilean quake, at magnitude 8.8, was a thousand times stronger -- an earthquake displaces 64 times more energy for each additional point on the magnitude scale." They must have some kind of love affair with the number 64... On screen meteorologist first said the Chili quake was a 8.8, which , and an 8.0 is 32 times stronger.. so an 8.8 , close to 9.0 would be almost 64 times stronger... Now they post the number that it's 64 times stronger, per point on the scale...it's not, it's 32 times per point... Good thing CNN doesn't have a nuclear physics department where they build A bombs... things go bad real fast if you get your calculations wrong with those kind of things. |
I can't wait to get the phone call from my daughter when she gets woken up by the evac sirens in just a few hours. Unless they have already been made aware, which is possible
