My only suggestion about going to Arlington is to make sure you aren't in need of a snack or anything other than water. Nothing is alllowed there, and nothing is sold there in the information centre, and it is a very large place and takes hours to do it justice, so make sure you stop somewhere and have a cuppa and a snack before you go. You arfe only allowed to have water in there.
It is a great place to go and see, and Lee house at the top of Arlington is very interesting, and the view is great from up there of the whole Washington Basin. And don't forget the Iwojima Memorial. |
I guess I would plan based on weather. Arlington is outdoors. Do the Smithsonian, Library of Congress, or National Art Gallery if it is raining.
Last time I was at Arlington was on 9/11. I was at the Pentagon on the subway (used to be able to get off underneath and walk right in). The plane hit and you could not get out there so I got off at Arlington and walked through the cemetery down to the burning building to help. |
Good morning folks.
Washington DC is still on my to do list. I have been all over the south and as far west as possible. Even the Northwest. I have never been further NE than Hershey PA. I have just not spent any time in Yankee land. I really want to go see Pete in the fall some year. Next year the Porsche Parade is Monterey CA, so back to CA for 2014. |

Rick, proud of you man. That is awesome that you made a decision in your life and stuck to it. I keep telling my buddy that is going to AA and keeps falling off the wagon, that no amount of group support is going to make up for self discipline. My friends get on me about being able to go out to the bar with them and only drinking 1 beer. They don't understand how I can do that. It's my own self discipline that dictates that. As a wrestler growing up in grade school you learn that lesson early in life. Congrats to you Rick and to many more years. |

Well, Pete has yet to extended an invitation. :D
Mostly I want to go see that part of the world. I like meeting up with Pelicans and I would love to meet Pete in the SUMMERTIME! My wife has mentioned flying up to New England area for some fall foliage tours. We have made no real plans for it. Two weeks from today I will be on the road going North to Canada. |
Rick, give me a call when you have a few minutes to talk.
|
All Stijneers are welcome here any time. You are officially invited.
It's only another 900 miles from from Traverse City,MI. to here Glen. |

We will get up that way sometime. |
1800 miles round trip. :)
|
It is 1,100 the Traverse City. The jaunt across the border is 200 each way. That will be a long day. 3.5 hours to get to Canada, spend bit of time then haul back.

Hi guys, we lost our oldest furkid last night. We're very devistated. RIP Jackie boy. :(
|
Not a good week for you Jeff.......sorry
RIP Jackie |
Sorry to hear the bad news Jeff. Jackie will be missed in your house, but remember all the good times together.
On a side note. I am leaving work and on my way to Hershey for the Relay for Life benefit. They want me to tell my story during the survivors ceremony. I feel honored, but I don't feel like anyone special to be out in the spot light. Nervous about what to say though. I hope everyone has a good weekend. |

Jeff and Sharyn, that is so sad. I hope you guys were around when he passed. It will happen to us all, but I do wish that our furry loved ones lived for longer.
My old Labrador went everywhere with me, and she lived to almost 16. She passed in Christmas 87 and I still miss her. :( RIP Jack |
So sorry for your loss Jeff.
