Co has a very aggressive welfare program. Friend of mine had an Ex with Kid in Co. on welfare. His child support went to Co and they took him to court every 6 months to make sure they were getting their child support payments. At one pointm even though he had been making all the payments, they decided he hadn't been paying enough. made it retro active and garnished his wages for the difference he hadn't payed. Co is making money in the welfare business.

From his pot head son I learned the small town his son lives in already has 3 medical weed bars. I assume Co is making money there also and is changing the laws to keep their money maker in business.

Our SoCal outpost bathroom remodel is underway. Thank goodness, the two bathrooms looked like crap (pun intended). :) Our contractor for remodeling the bathrooms is the same guy that did our kitchen, Pelican look 171. Two thumbs up. :)

If all goes well, we should finish the interior of the house by the end of 2014. Then, it's on to the landscape/hardscape.

My brother remodeled his house before he moved in.

Sanded all the texture off the walls. Replaced all the floors with wood. Painted the woodwork. Rebuilt the fireplace so it could burn wood. Lined the master walk-in with cedar. Remodeled the upstairs so the each of the two guest bedrooms each have their own full baths. Replaced all the kitchen cabinets and countertops. Added a utility room pantry using up some of the 2 deep x 1 deep 3 car garage. And added a patio on the back beside the deck.

Haven't done anything to my house except fix stuff that breaked The value has gone up enough would easily be able to get monies spent back on resale. Just lazy and cheap I guess.

Yeah, our plan is to get our house finished before retirement. We bought it from the estate of the original owners. We're the second owners. The house was built in '65 and the interior & systems were all original. So far, we've (us and contractors) removed all asbestos crap (popcorn ceiling and vent ducting), replaced the windows and patio doors, replaced the furnace with an HVAC (moved into the attic), remodeled the fireplace & converted it to gas, insulated exterior walls and attic, remodeled the kitchen, remodeled the laundry room, remodeled the master BR closet, painted the exterior and some of the interior, ripped out all the tile flooring, ran TV RF cabling throughout the house, and ripped out most interior trim in preparation for new flooring that'll go in later this year.

Much work.

Yep. But hopefully the result will be worth it. :)

Hey Pari. Yeah, if all goes as planned, we're going to retire to SoCal in 2015 or 2016.

Rick V 01-05-2014 10:05 AM

I hope to beat ya that way Jim. :)

Jim Richards 01-05-2014 10:09 AM

I hope you do, too, Rick. SmileWavy

Sister moved to a nice climate for retirement. After a few years moved back to where her kids and grandkids were.

Brother moved closer to grandkids, but it was only across town.

RKDinOKC 01-05-2014 10:26 AM

It's sunny out, but still cold and white.

Rick V 01-05-2014 10:48 AM

The grandkids are a big concern for us, we'll manage. I can see Beth racking up the frequent flyer miles.

Missus don't wanna move no more. Me, dunno yet? Prolly go along with the majority vote....

Morning y'all

Rick V 01-05-2014 10:54 AM

Evening Jeff.
The majority being the Missus?

Outback Porsche 01-05-2014 10:58 AM

Meh, Monday, back to w*@k today. :(

My en suite reno is turning into 'bigger than Ben Hur'. I'm discovering stuff that wasn't done right the first time that has damaged the concrete floor and walls. I'll need to fix that 5hit first before I can put the waterproofing membrane in. Not sure now if it'll be finished before we head to Tassie in Feb.

G'day Rick. Correct. ;)

Outback Porsche 01-05-2014 11:03 AM

I'm the boss in my house, I asked my missus and she said I could be. ;)

Outback Porsche 01-05-2014 11:06 AM

Oh well, time to get it over and done with. I gotta go get ready for it. Y'all enjoy what's left of your weekend. Hooroo.

Rick V 01-05-2014 11:07 AM

If you want to wear out monday so I don't have to deal with it I wouldn't object
