Friend had an RV built. Based on a Freightliner, no trailer. Carries 2 cars and living area a little bigger than a Sprint. Built to haul his family, 356 and another car to car shows and events. He picked the Freightliner chassis because it had more power to handle altitude and grade better on the road. Was built by a place in Chicago. Think that would be the way to go. RV that carries a car for local motoring around while the RV stays parked.

I saw a dream rig at one of the Porsche Parades. I think it was Charlotte. We were standing in line at one of the buffets and chatting. After dinner we went to the parking lot to see is rig. It was a 18 wheeler Kenworth with a huge cab. I had never noticed a cab with an extended living area like his. The cool part was the trailer. He had an air-conditioner on the roof and it held three cars. In the front up high was a 904 as his concours car. Below that was a 911 RSR clone for his autocross car and track car. Near the back was a 993 Cab for his street car. I think the Snap On truck came to him for tools. He had everything.

He said he goes to automobile events coast to coast. He was a super nice and friendly guy. I just wish I could have talked him into adopting me.

On the side of the cab it said not for hire. On the trailer it said used tire hauling.

22' feet long or less.

Just get a VW camper. It will go up in value and everyone will say it is cool dude. Of course the mountains may pose bit of a problem. ;)

So you are just planning to have a nice comfy closet to drive from room to room.

Heck, I'd be thrilled with just an FJ80. In a couple years when the kids are older, maybe we'll see if it's possible to go semi-camping in a minivan; we've already got one of those.

We wonder about some of our clients sometimes.

One of them thar crazy engineer type ;) customers sent us a FAX!

So we get a B&W mostly black fax of some blobs of a map of some part of the world. It could be the Amazon river for all we can tell. And he wants a quote on what it will cost to fly the project. It could be one 1/4 mile or 100 miles wide and anywhere on the planet.

I think we need more info. And how about that new technology called an email?

I consider it camping where there is no high speed Wi-Fi or the TV is smaller than 24 inches and the bed it not at least a queen size.

I for one will not camp in a tent unless there is something to kill also known as hunting.

RKDinOKC 01-10-2014 12:56 PM

Camping is when you spend the night with only part of your stuff with you and activities are outdoor actives which usually include an after dark communal fire of some kind but not necessarily used for preparation of food. The exception being day camp usually referring to only daytime outdoor activities for those not mature enough to spend the night without the security of all their stuff. But that's not really camping now is it.

Noah930 01-10-2014 12:59 PM

Camping is where you spend money to pretend like you don't have any.

Evening Y'all
I love tent camping. I will drive up into the National Forrest and hike my way into the woods up the side of a mountain, no cell phones, no electricity, no people, just quiet and relaxing. That really works to re center me and calm me down. As you can tell it has been a while since I have been camping.

Afternoon/Evening gents

Rick V 01-10-2014 02:44 PM

Howdy Jeff, the man who camps where even the algae will kill you

Jim Richards 01-10-2014 02:45 PM

No tent camping for us. Not liking arthritis from sleeping on the ground.

Rick V 01-10-2014 02:47 PM

Hammock, just sayin

HHI944 01-10-2014 02:50 PM

I've done my share of 'camping'.....I'll stick with mattresses and AC these days...
