Perhaps he is simply occupied with a little fluffinŽ.

10th of June I'm into LAX. No specific flight yet, I'm working on accommodations. There are some race teams I know in the area I may be able to crash at some guy's places to save hotel money..

Starting on the 15th I'll be racing at Cal Speedway, and my team has a hoetl booked in San Bernardino somewhere.

By then I will hopefully have an apartment lined out too. I have a few potentials in Hermosa Beach. One is just a few feet from the sand. I'm paying for it, but it's my dream.

Hi Guys.
went to Oslo yesterday and picked up the 930. drove it 700km home.
I was a little disappointed with the interior. there are some things that need to be freshened up there.
also:
brake light stuck on.
No heat!! (both myself and my father finished the ride with jackets, gloves and hats on!)
Oil level gauge reads zero although oil pressure and engine temp were good.
Fuel economy is not our strong side. about 15L/100km, mostly mellow cruising with a few bursts on boost.

car goes like he11! I had a go with a guy in an AMG 55SL and smoked him a couple of times before backing off and preserving my drivers license.

pictures soon to come!

Jeff,

sounds like a few details should have been sorted out already, like the stuck brake light and oil level gauge... what's up with that...
But the important thing is that the car is mechanically sound, and it goes like stink! :D did you get kramps in your face from grinning??
Those small electrical gremlins should have been sorted but this way, you have some small things to do yourself, which is very rewarding if you solve them yourself! Maybe the heating problem is a faulty contact or broken blower...

Now you can change your avatar.
We're waiting impatiently for pics!!

the_webbster 05-21-2010 01:04 AM

Probably no pics until I get the ugly temperary plates off and proper plates on it.
jeez that car is fast! I didn't even push it hard but even the last few kms by town (at 1am and after a long drive) I was still giggling like a little girl!

Geronimo '74 05-21-2010 01:07 AM

You're not going to leave us hanging until you get your plates!
Takes the temporary ones off and take some pics gawddammit!!!! :)

livi 05-21-2010 01:12 AM

Congrats on the 930, neighbor!

Does the oil level gauge read zero only while driving or also when parked on level ground idling?

Rick V 05-21-2010 01:36 AM

Morning Guys
Jeff, do yaself a favor and actually check the oil before ya condemn the level gauge.

Geronimo '74 05-21-2010 01:38 AM

Morning, girls!

Contemplating heading down to the Ring this weekend. Bringing my old 85 Carrera against my buddies 10 GT3. I will woouuuup his a$$! :D

I can relate. Two years ago while on the track at Charlotte Speedway during a DE I passed a 2008 GT2 in my 1985 Carrera. I got a full blown wave by because I had been on the tail of the GT2 for a full lap. I can honestly say that I passed a GT2 on a track. The fact that the wife of the couple was driving at the time, and her biggest goal was to not crash has no bearing on the pass. :)

porsche4life 05-21-2010 08:48 AM

I can relate too... at the last autocross I was faster than several 911s.... Even a certain white '85... :p

GH85Carrera 05-21-2010 09:00 AM

Race rubber makes any compairson invalid. :)

Glen, if your more horsepower, supposedly superior car design, and 30 YEARS of experience are taken into account... I do believe I have just merely leveled the playing field...

My daddy taught me to bring an equalizer to the fight if you think you might lose....

RKDinOKC 05-21-2010 09:09 AM

Drove my 928 around town yesterday. It gave me a chubby.

porsche4life 05-21-2010 09:18 AM

Now was that really necessary?

GH85Carrera 05-21-2010 09:23 AM

Also remember my front suspension has just a garage self alignment. The entire rear does not match the front. I will miss the autocross because I am in the middle of working on the rear suspension.

So we'll try this again once we both have our suspension redone?

RKDinOKC 05-21-2010 09:30 AM

Good alignment made a 2 second difference on my GTS.

GH85Carrera 05-21-2010 12:35 PM

I think a good corner balance will help me the most. I have suffered from bad front wheel lockup when braking for a while. Replacing the 25 year old shocks, and fresh rotors and rebuilt calipers, tight rubber bushings and the first alignment the car has had since Sid was in 1st grade will help a lot. I am not doing the suspension rebuild to go faster, it is just to keep the car in top shape.

You chaps are slacking...
