yep.

Rick, move closer to the fire.

Jim Richards 11-02-2014 06:10 PM

Yep

RKDinOKC 11-02-2014 06:15 PM

There's a fire!

Made the offer on this house on Friday the 13th, signed the papers and moved in on Halloween in 1996. In 18 years have never built a fire in the fireplace.

Jim Richards 11-02-2014 06:18 PM

We have a fireplace in our SoCal house. LOL!

RKDinOKC 11-02-2014 06:22 PM

I don't even have any firewood.

I've thought about getting one of those fancy gas logs things that looks like a nice wood fire, but just never have gotten motivated enough to spend any money on it.

Would be afraid to light it up without having a chimney sweep clean the spider webs and birds nests out.

Jim Richards 11-02-2014 06:24 PM

We converted our fp to gas since it's more for show than for go.

azzarule 11-02-2014 06:25 PM

Jim,

you will only need a fireplace for the ambience, ............. nice

RKDinOKC 11-02-2014 06:27 PM

Do ambulances come quicker if you have a fireplace?

Jim Richards 11-02-2014 06:28 PM

Yep

RKDinOKC 11-02-2014 06:28 PM

Oh, so that's why a fire truck always shows up with the ambulance.

Jim Richards 11-02-2014 06:29 PM

And yep

RKDinOKC 11-02-2014 06:32 PM

Every once in a while think it would be nice to turn the thermostat down, light up the fireplace, and drink some hot cocoa all cozied up around the fire.

Jim Richards 11-02-2014 06:34 PM

I think it would be even better to live where a fp isn't necessary.

pete3799 11-02-2014 06:35 PM

cold... windy.......wood stove fired up. Actually had two stoves going today. The one in the garage and the one in the house.

RKDinOKC 11-02-2014 06:39 PM

Well, in 18 years my fireplace has not been "necessary."

RKDinOKC 11-02-2014 06:44 PM

Brother built a house out on the farm to use as a retreat. It was built as a Y2K bunker so the windows are all small and the fireplace is a free standing wood stove you can cook on. Way too practical. Now he wishes he had put in huge windows facing the pond, a big rock fireplace everyone could lounge around, and a giant covered porch.

Jim Richards 11-02-2014 06:53 PM

Y2K bunker?
