Is any of that rain falling in the fire areas?

Outback Porsche 01-08-2015 03:36 AM

There's a little bit down south

The announced this arvo that they have finally got the nasty one outside Adelaide contained.

Rick V 01-08-2015 03:49 AM

That is good but extinguished would be much better

GH85Carrera 01-08-2015 04:06 AM

Good morning folks.

Rick V 01-08-2015 04:25 AM

M-m-m-m-morning Gl-e-e-e-n. Is it cold there too?

RKDinOKC 01-08-2015 04:32 AM

It's 12°F outside right now. Supposed to get up to 36°F today.

Forecast is cold for the next coupla weeks...

Kinda reminds me of winter.

Rick V 01-08-2015 04:35 AM

Yeah it's 12 here too. All of my dickwad friends from Az and Fla are killing me on FB right now.

Dave, do you have a Maker's shop in your area? They should have an engine lathe you can use to make a production run or two. At least the three I've visited have at least an engine lathe better suited for turning metal.

RKDinOKC 01-08-2015 04:52 AM

Oh boy, get to go have a surgeon cut on my neck this morning. Not looking forward to going out in the cold despite the lack of precipitation.

Rick V 01-08-2015 04:53 AM

There is no way you would catch me living in an area where the thermometer is scaled to -60

GH85Carrera 01-08-2015 05:17 AM

Rick, that scale also goes to 120. I would bet the record high of all time is not much above 100 there. In Phoenix one could peg that scale on the high side.

Rick V 01-08-2015 05:19 AM

I'm good with that

GH85Carrera 01-08-2015 05:27 AM

In August of 2012 it was 113 in OKC. That tied the record for the highest temp ever in the area. It is hard to breath in that heat. I can't imagine how tough it is to work a job outdoors in that heat.

Of course I can't imagine working outdoors in below zero temperature either. I am sure Pete can tell us. ;)

Rick V 01-08-2015 05:49 AM

When I get over heated all I have to do is sit down in the shade, with a drink and in a couple of mins I am back up and running, when I get cold it takes me a very long time to warm back up, and it usually involves a hot shower. I must be part catfish, I don't thermo-regulate down well at all

911SauCy 01-08-2015 06:16 AM

I think my e39 is part catfish too!

It crackled and popped to life like a cold ford flat-head with a single barrel carb, and was stiff for the first 20mins. -3 at The Saucy's this am.

GH85Carrera 01-08-2015 06:22 AM

Every winter I am reminded what a great choice getting rid of the El Camino's carburetor was. The throttle body fuel injection just flat works like a car is supposed to. I vividly remember sitting in my Elky on COLD days nursing the throttle trying to get it warm enough to even drive. Now I just get in and go.

That Electronic controlled Rochester Carb was a total POS that never did work right.

911SauCy 01-08-2015 06:45 AM

My first "car" was a CK2500 with TBI...unbelievably reliable.

35s on stock steelies, Headers, Flowmaster 40-series and an open air cleaner...I was a wicked highschooler ;)

GH85Carrera 01-08-2015 06:54 AM

My first car was a 1960 VW bug with a massive 36 HP. I lived in Alabama back then so real cold weather was rare. I did have carb icing problems for a while. I had to yank the intake manifold and clean out the preheat tubes to get it to run better. It is just amazing what a decent rust free 1960 Bug sells for now.

911SauCy 01-08-2015 07:23 AM

Funny you say that, as I'd kill for a clean, low-mile CK2500...can't find one
