Good afternoon fellow Pelicans.
I feel tired for some reason. As Sid mention it has been crazy hot here. The wife & I got up at 6:00 AM to go outside and trim some of the bushes before the temperature got to lava hot. I killed some weeds, and then WE washed the wife's car, and I washed my El Camino. We ran several errands and came home to relax, and watched the F1 Qualifying. Then we went out to wax the wife's car, and clean up the interior. We treated the leather & vinyl then vacuumed the car. The AC in the garage was struggling to keep it below 82 degrees. |
My heart bleeds for you glen... With the fans I may have gotten it down to 100 flat in the shop...
|
Been there done that.
Back when I was your age I did not have a garage at all. I had to work on a gravel road with fire ants and wasps and it was either 125 degrees or snowing. The only tools I had was a pair of vice grips and a rounded off screw driver. And I was happy to have even that! :D |
I sense some slight exaggeration there glen... ;)
|
I proved to myself that I can still party for a week straight. That is all.
|
Way to be Dave.
We need to organize another big LA gathering soon. |
I'm jealous of you Cali boys....
I can only get together with Glen and Richard.... |
Well, chickened out on getting a full blown air compressor for my garage. I don't do much with air but keep my tires topped off so...got a Slime Rechargeable Tire Inflator at Autozone to replace my old dead Sears one. About the size of a lunch box. Not only is it handy to top tires without any cords, it is mighty convenient to have at an autocross.
|
I think a little 1 or 2 gallon compressor would be better than those 12v inflators richard....
|
Morning, guys!
There will be pics, G. Hopefully not accident photos. Will be driving my friends GT3, brand new.. , bit nervous. Well done, Dave! |
Have your friend take a picture of the speedo at your fastest speed... We need proof. :)

Gotta plug those in. Not too convenient for the autocross. Too many times the air is not on out there.
I used a Craftsman rechargeable for years until the battery finally went kaput. Got another Craftsman and the battery didn't last adding 3 psi to one tire. Took it back. Had about decided I was going to have to get one of those little A/C compressors like you suggested until I did some internet research. Found the current Sears one's battery sucked and the Slime's reviews sounded like my old craftsman. My 928 has a deflated spare and a 12V compressor to pump it up with. The Porsche compressor works well, but has that cigarette lighter cord. Not very convenient when you have used a cordless. If the slime one turns out to be fubar will probably get the cheap Sear A/C compressor. Honestly, I will mostly be using it to top off the tires after an autocross so the portability thing is real big for me. The tires gain a LOT of pressure autocrossing so I have to bleed them down to keep full tread contact. Since the tires don't heat up nearly as much on the street I need to put a couple of PSI back in them to keep from running them to low. |

I spent the afternoon in the garage once again. :)
My El Camino turned 286,000 miles so it was time for an oil change, lube & air filter. And while I was out there I figured I would do a full wax & vacuum the interior. Next up is mow & edge the lawn. The heat index is well into triple digits and I can't figure out how to air condition my yard. I will start on the yard at 7:30 since sunset is 8:30. It takes me about 90 minutes to mow and edge so I will have to finish up using the lights in the back yard. |
Glen, How about that cool vest?
