I really like being able to work from home and being able to take care of Mom. AND the big bonus is not having to go sit in a cubical or office and have to put up with all the office politics crap.

Am going to have break down and get a haircut. Havent had one in 4 years. But still don't want to trim the beard.

Rick V 03-11-2015 02:52 AM

I need both a haircut and to get rid of the beard. I think this weekend I am going to treat myself to a barber hot shave, I have earned one. (at least that is the story I am going to use)

Jim Richards 03-11-2015 03:56 AM

It sounds like you work for a good company, Richard. That sure does make a big difference. I've had some less than optimal experiences with employers over the years. Thankfully, I've also had more reasonable employers, too.

GH85Carrera 03-11-2015 04:08 AM

I had a haircut last week and she trimmed my beard but I have had my beard since the late 70s so I think I will keep it. It took a long time to chrome every single hair on my face, I can't cut them off.

Hump day again. Over the hump heading towards the weekend.

RKDinOKC 03-11-2015 05:13 AM

Oh, I've had some bad experiences too. All related to one of my Nephews that was CEO whom is no longer at the company or speaking to anyone in the family. He wanted to hire all manfacturing and support out to other companies and put everyone out of a job so he would have less work to do.

At one point I was in charge of Engineering, Graphic Arts, Catalog, Literature, Drafting, Email, Internet Security and the Web site and produced a monthly newsletter for an unrelated business in English and Spanish. Got demoted serveral times and now only Email Administrator and manage DNS.

The demotions started when I took care of my Mom for two months after her first stroke. All the stuff I was in charge of never skipped a beat even though I did not show up at the office during those two months. Instead of being promoted for everything running so smoothly I was told I knew how to do too many things too well. Never cut my pay, but should have been promoted and given more pay instead of being demoted.

Pretty much lost all my loyalty and initiative and only do exactly what I'm asked, not more, no less and make sure to not put in any more than 8 hrs a day no matter how quickly anything is needed.

The worse part is that it is a "christian" family business and my brother is the President and Chairman of the Board.

Morning all.

Done driving for a day or so - put in a 1000km effort today. Arrived at my parents early this evening.

Gotta find someone to fix the bike trailer tomorrow, then Friday we're back in the old bus for a little 400km trek down to the town of Albany for a wedding on Saturday.

The good thing is we're stopping for a few days R&R before we return to Perth on Monday.

RKDinOKC 03-11-2015 08:05 AM

I'm envious of you people that can take holiday. Pretty much stuck here taking care of Mom until she completely loses her mind.

Outback Porsche 03-11-2015 08:26 AM

My employer sucks big knobs at the moment, and is the main reason I extended my break another 4 weeks from the original 4 weeks I had planned to take. I not sure, but I think I was really close to catching that depression thing you hear about sometimes. It was becoming a real battle to show up each day, so I thought it was time for a good break and to clear my head.

Outback Porsche 03-11-2015 08:31 AM

Time for snoring and farting me thinks. Night all.

GH85Carrera 03-11-2015 08:32 AM

Sounds like you were getting anal glaucoma. Just can't see yer ass going to work. A long vacation can help with that disease.

My wife keeps telling me how luck I am to have my job and I have to agree. Laid back easy going and we make the company money and they keep paying us. Such a deal.

It would so much suck to have to put on real work clothes like a suit or even just a tie. I like my uniform of shorts and a t-shirt all summer.

I have never done that...as I have never had facial hair longer than about 1/8th inch. I just put that on my bucket list. Someday (after I retire), I will try to grow enough beard to make that worthwhile.

GH85Carrera 03-11-2015 08:48 AM

I just blame my facial hair on Spiro Agnew. Back when he was still the VP he was giving a speech in Montgomery, Al and I had to go cover it for Time Magazine. The place where I worked insisted I "look professional" so I had to go home and shave and change into a coat & tie. As I was shaving I cut my lip real bad and had to hold a bandage on it to keep it from bleeding a lot.

As the secret service inspected my camera gear to make sure it was really camera gear and not a weapon I was still holding a paper towel to my lip. It was tough to take pictures and in the end some other story bumped that story and Time never used those photos.

I probably have a scar there but I have not seen my lip since Agnew was VP. He resigned as VP on October 10, 1973. Dang, over 40 years ago!

flipper35 03-11-2015 08:49 AM

I don't think I have enough lifetime left to grow a worthwhile beard. Which is fine with me because I hate to shave and my wife doesn't care for facial hair. I can usually go several days before I have to shave.

We need a mental image warning symbol for certain comments. Yes, I am referring to you Glen, but at least you said hairy man boobs and not hairy girl boobs. Jeff, no we don't want to see pictures of that either even though we know you can get them.

Dog roulette would involve throwing it and surviving the retrieval.

Careful Partyboob is Boobytrap spelled backwards.

911SauCy 03-11-2015 09:45 AM

Lemme get this straight Outback...you're taking a 2 month vacation!?

Jim Richards 03-11-2015 01:59 PM

It's not a vacation. He's taking an 8-week retirement training course.

porsche4life 03-11-2015 02:11 PM

How do I enroll in that training course?
