My FIL bought himself a really nice Z28. The body is absolutely rust free and just needs a good buffing.

The motor is a 1970 400 cu.in SBC with Camelback 2.02 heads and mildcamshaft.

The seller is getting divorced so he needed it gone. He was the 2nd owner and has every receipt for the last 25 years.

The other Z we were working on will probably find itself by the road for sale very soon.

I don't think I will race him with the 911 Not that we would do that, of course.

The seller even used Brad Penn oil in it.

I swaped in a 400 cu 2.02 head motor into my 81 GMC Jimmy 4x4. I got the motor out of a Monte Carlo SS. I put in RV Cams, and Edelbrock Intake, low stall torque converter, and slapped some headers on it. I tried a big holley carb, but it ran horrible so just rebuilt the Rotchester 4BBL that was originally on the 400. It was a Monster, especially compared to the anemic smog laden 305 that I took out.

It was a sweet deal. Bought a Monte Carlo for $200 because it had a busted heater core. Pulled the motor and sold the Monte Carlo sans motor for $300 to some guy that stopped and asked about it sitting my my driveway. Sold the wimpy 305 out of the Jimmy for another $300 and spent the $600 on getting the heads done to run unleaded, and all the hot rod bits. Because the Monte Carlow was pre-1980 I didn't have to put any of the smog bits back on the 81 Jimmy.

Pulled up to a 3 lane light. It was me in my Jimmy, a brand new Z28, and a brand new Firebird. They were both reving their engines, it was obvious they were going to race. They weren't paying any attention to me so Idropped the 4x4 into FWD Low and waited for the light to change.

When the light changed I mashed the gas to the floor. In 3 seconds the Jimmy engine reved up to red line. It had gone thru all three gears and without even chirping the tires it had leaped across the intersection as was going 50mph.

Quickly slammed the transfer case shifter from low to high and mashed the gas again. Looked back as I sped away to see both the z28 and the Firebird had barely gotten into the intersection. Both were smokin their tires staring at rear end of the great big Jimmy pulling away with their mouths agape.

The big bonus for me was it went from getting 10mpg to 18mpg AND with the big a$$ tires it could go over 50 up hills on the highway.

The 911 will be running and get an oil change for the season within 24hours :) :) :)

I had this cheap gazebo on the back porch...bought it a few years ago at home depot for ~200.
We had hail the other night that destroyed the fabric covering.....so, I'm breaking the thing down to take to the dump...

Breaking it down with an angle grinder takes way less time than assembling...

Zed28 talk: Seller threw in a car cover, extra set of T-Tops, a smaller carb(600cfm). The 750 Edelbrock on it currently is a bit big. I told him we can change carbs one of these days.

We started using the 400 back when everyone was still just boring out a 350. They are stout motors, especially if you spend a little time cleaning up the water passages.

My wife saw the pics and told me she wants the car for Mother's Day. I told her no dice.

Afternoon all. Finally got around to ordering the parts for the 911. Another week and it might just be safe to drive it again.

Red is difficult to keep a nice deep red once it starts that fading crap.

That HUGE spoiler on the back is a little much, it will really slow it down!

Wow, busy day. I did not get any naps in today at all. :(

Working on a customer job in an interesting area. They want from 1950s to today every 5 years of a building next to a river. That river is MOVING over the years. They actually did not blink at the price and just want it done soon.

This weekend will be spent out of the house for a lot of it. Yard work and car projects. No naps this weekend. :(

What a crappy week but it is in the books, phew and I am not in jail, phew phew.
Tomorrow morning the son and I are heading into Charlottesville with the M1078 for cars and coffee, I truly hope the dip wad who gave me crap about bringing Peggy once is there.
After that I think I'll be spending some time on the tractor and sunday, yeah sunday I am not going to hit a lick at a snake. Beth is off, the weather is supposed to be top shelf, and I am gonna enjoy it.
Set your watches the countdown to my daighter screwing it up begins now.....
