Glen,

A fun game to play with telemarketers is ask them as many personal questions as fast as possible.

When I worked in the maint dept of a condo community during HS and college summers, we'd make it a competition to see how fast we could get the telemarketer to hang up on us!

Admittedly, I had my questions pre-written.

My signature "closer" for female telemarketers was, do you prefer Bratwurst or Kielbasa?

GH85Carrera 07-14-2015 07:35 AM

One of my former co-workers at a different job would start using the dirty old man voice and ask a female telemarketer what color of panties she was wearing and ask them for their home phone number.

Good Morning...I really really overslept today!

I love getting calls from telemarketers. The latest round is selling home security monitoring services. I wait till I get an opportunity to speak then in a robotic voice and say "You have reached a home protected by the Home Watch 3000. Sorry, but your number is not on the list of allowed callers, have a nice day." then hang up.

We have a beagle. Beagles like to bark so said beagle has a bark collar that is set off when it senses vibration in his throat. It works pretty well. We have a yellow lab. Yellow lab seldom barks but will yip now and then while playing but has one of those "Bolt Super Barks" when she really means it. Makes her sound like a 300lb dog. Well the beagle starts pestering and pestering her and she lets out one of those earth rumbling barks and it sets off the beagles bark collar and he gets zapped and gives her the stink eye. It was funny. I had no sympathy for him this time.

Sunny and warm today. I hope this crap weather is over by AirVenture.

It was really nice and cloudless sky this morning. Over lunch the severe thunderstorms started to roll in A-G-A-I-N. In the three hours on non rain yesterday, I emptied a bucket that had been left out in the yard from the 4th of July for some reason....in the nine days since, there was 7" of water in the bucket, and a couple of those days were good drying days that i'm sure evaporated some of it.

Our head pilot is taking a week off and flying up to Oshkosh next week in his personal C-210. He says he tries to leave his credit card back in the room safe so he doesn't buy any new toys. There are always lots of neat new gadgets that every pilot needs for the airplane.

Porsche-poor 07-14-2015 09:45 AM

expensive toys is a bad habit.

flipper35 07-14-2015 09:46 AM

They never seem to run out of things that are needed on general aviation aircraft.

Is hit a turbo? We looked at them and they are a good SUV but the maintenance is almost as bad as a Ferrari.

Looks like we will have 4-5 DAYS in a row without storms. NIGHTS on the other hand...

GH85Carrera 07-14-2015 09:52 AM

Yes his is a turbo. He already has almost every gadget, geegaw and bling possible. His airplane looks like something out of a brochure from Cessna.

He does not fly it much because he is in the air for us a lot. He put in 50 hours of flight time last week. He was in six different states in that time.

flipper35 07-14-2015 11:37 AM

But there are new gadgets coming out all the time. Plus updated version of the gadgets on the plane already.

So, we have this old 119 gallon water heater. How well would it work to convert it to a smoker?

Porsche-poor 07-14-2015 12:04 PM

everyone needs toys. I'm looking for a few news ones my self.

GH85Carrera 07-14-2015 12:07 PM

Airplane toys make Porsche toys look like cheap plastic crap price wise.

Porsche-poor 07-14-2015 12:12 PM

that is so true. toys are toys but airplane toys are $$$$

flipper35 07-14-2015 12:35 PM

Mooney had some Porsche powered planes back in the day. Best of both worlds at three times the price.

GH85Carrera 07-14-2015 12:49 PM

Porsche has aggressively gone after every Porsche engine possible. They don't want them in the air anymore. The are are happy to swap them for conventional replacements.

Porsche-poor 07-14-2015 01:08 PM

I would love to have be able to afford to own a plane. I'd have to hire SloDave to fly it. I should go buy a lottery ticket.

GH85Carrera 07-14-2015 01:22 PM

I see some of the bills for our airplane and it is just astonishing how fast it eats money.

We charge $650 per hour to any client and that is from startup to shutdown. Of course we don't charge the client that, it is just built into the job. They just pay for the mapping or services provided. The airplane cost is just a base. That pays the pilot and buys the fuel and pays for maintenance. The camera cost us 11 bucks every time the shutter fires.

Of course the only way we make any real money is to have that airplane in the air. The more it flies the more we make. We don't fly it for practice or fun, just for money. We are just money grubber capitalists not a charity. Of course that is why people go to work every day. That nice paycheck, or the crappy paycheck whichever it may be.

I am sure Mooney thought it was a good idea at the time with Porsche's experience with air cooled engines. I always thought they would be one of the coolest sounding 4 seaters out there.

One of the guys that founded the Hurst group has a Lancair IVP with an LS engine of some sort. He has won a few of the cross country races with it. My old boss was looking at an inverted V that was made with some ceramics for his IVP. He was told cruise speed would be around 420mph/365kts at FL280. Not bad for a piston plane.

Porsche-poor 07-14-2015 01:30 PM

So how many pictures do you have of the building you are in right now?

Porsche-poor 07-14-2015 01:41 PM

The coolest plane I have ever had a ride in was a T-34 (I think). Old Navy trainer. The owner got permission to have it repainted to his old squad colors and numbers.

Slowest was the good year blimp.
