Oh Haha 07-18-2016 08:37 AM

Cool on the new strap.

I wonder if Whirlpool will give me a new oven glassfront cause I dropped a heavy pot into it over the weekend? Probably not.

Made rice crispy treats for the kids today, pulled out the stove and fridge to clean behind them. Laundry is half done. Now off to clean the pool and do some k-nee therapy whilst I'm in there.

Wifey's adventure to pick up the VP's at the airport will net us about $60 in fuel reimbursement, plus she will get paid OT for the time spent doing it. She's salaried but the plant manager makes sure she gets paid extra for things like that, over and above what he must.

She's uber wife or she can add Uber to whatever title she has at work.

Had Cocoamats in my BoxsterS. After a couple of years I sent them an email saying I left my top down a lot and they had faded and wondered what I could use to die them black. They sent me another set of mats free.

Oh Haha 07-18-2016 10:08 AM

Must be your charm, eh Richard?

I ordered the new oven glass. It should be here in a couple of days.

The AC pressure gauges I have for doing my AC repair are TIF brand. I had one valve start to leak and I contacted them to see how much it was going to cost to repair. They sent me two repair kits for free. It was real simple to fix with the kit. I only needed one kit. I have a spare now.

I am youngest of 6. Mom had 2 girls and then a boy with her first husband. He was killed in a car/train accident 2 weeks before son was born. Father was widower with a boy a year older than Mom's oldest girl. They got married and had a son, my only full brother. When I was born 13 years after full brother, the oldest brother was in the air force and both sisters were in college.

Every one of my siblings either themselves won't talk to someone or have a family member that won't talk to them.

Oldest sister disowned Mom when she got married right out of college. Never reconciled. I've never met or talked to her.
Oldest brother's kids won't talk to him or each other.
Other sister has an adopted son that can't be trusted or he will steal you blind.
Brother on my Mom's side's middle boy disowned his whole family won't let his family talk to his mom, dad, or siblings families.
Full brother had kids from 2 ex wives that wouldn't talk to him, and two boys from another that would but never did.

I don't call or talk to my brothers and sisters very much. It's not that we aren't talking, they are all just so much older we don't have a lot in common. I'm the age of their oldest kids and don't really like them treating me like one of their kids. Which they do.

My aunts and uncles on both mom's and dad's sides and their families are in various states of messed up with somebody not talking to somebody as well.

When I first read that, I read it wrong.

The new pump came for the pool. It works much better than the old one and I actually have a pressure reading on the filter now. Should run a lot less since it can move all 10,000 gallons in a few hours instead of 12. I think the vacuum works much better as well.

Yep, Mom was widow with 3 kids, Dad was widower with one kid. After they got married they had 2 kids including me.

Almost like the Brady Bunch, but different, and no housekeeper.

flipper35 07-18-2016 11:39 AM

I first read it that your dad's oldest boy married your mom's oldest girl. Monday mornings leave my reading comprehension a little short of 100%.

Sounds like we are heading west this year for vacation.

Our grill finally rusted out bad enough that the charcoal tray has a huge hole in it and the underside is rusted through as well. Thinking about a grill/smoker combo or paying someone to re-weld the old one. The reason for keeping the old one is my wife's dad made it when she was little and he worked at a steel shop.

RKDinOKC 07-18-2016 01:34 PM

Usually take stuff to a muffler shop to get welding done.

I'd like to replace my big ol 3 burner gas grill with something smaller. The darn thing just keeps chugging along.

We have some friends that run a business repairing and building things for the tractor trailer industry. I think they could handle it but the metal could be as much as a new grill.

Oh Haha 07-18-2016 01:52 PM

I'm sure they have some scrap laying around they could weld in.

Unless you are subliminally wanting a new grill then forget what I said and go get one of those huge SS ones at Lowes. :D

flipper35 07-18-2016 02:05 PM

I am not sure they have some thin scrap laying around. When they had their brake delivered the shipper hired a 4 ton crane to unload it form the truck. While unloading the crane broke and dropped it. It didn't seem to be hurt though. We had them weld parts of our Texas Star when we built it and they didn't even have much of that thickness of metal laying around.

That said, never heard of Dyna-Glo.

RKDinOKC 07-18-2016 02:48 PM

Dang it, now you got me shopping for grills.

RKDinOKC 07-18-2016 03:43 PM

Heat! Heck it is only 97 outside. No heaters needed here. We have excess heat.

We do use heat for the clothes dryer. ;)

It's so cool to be able to repair stuff yourself.

Our A/C condenser drain pump wasn't working Saturday which made water run all over the space where the water heater and furnace are located. o danger but I knew it wasn't right.

I removed the pump, took it apart and found pebbles lodged in the propeller water moving thingy. I cleaned it and tested it on my bench and it worked just fine.

I'm thinking the kids dropped some cat litter into the piping. My trashcan of litter is kept in that room so......

Interesting, Charbroil has a Hybrid 3 burner grill. You can use it as a gas grill, or insert a tray between the grate and burners that hold charcoal. The gas grill part is used to get the charcoal going then you turn the gas burners off and cook on the charcoal. Says it takes 15 to 20 minutes to get the coals going. Says no lighter fluid and not to use the starter charcoals.

They also have a 3 in 1 Smoker/Roaster/Grill. But some of the reviews says it does all three but not as well as a dedicated smoker or grill.

When I was younger we had a Charbroil gas grill that had hickory flavored ceramic/lava briquettes that went on a layer between the burner and the grate. It did had the flavor of charcoal without the hassle. We left it at our old house because it was built in and connected to our natural gas line. It was also over 20 years old.

The first grill I got after we moved here had enough space between the burners and the grate that I install a lower grill and put briquettes in it. It worked well, but after about 8 years it rusted out so bad it was non-repairable.

My current gas grill is just a standard 3 burner grill with the metal tents between the burners and grill. Had to replace the tents because they basically evaporated. It cooks okay, but has horrible hot spots and really doesn't impart that charcoal flavor.

And with my current living arrangements I really don't need a huge 3 burner grill.
