No school today. Supposed to get freezing rain, apparently.

We had that for a bit last night. They predicted until 9:00 but it was don'e by 6:00 and stayed in the upper 20s.

It's challenging to make the most out of a small house. This is definitely a better layout. When it's clear outside, I can see a teeny, tiny sliver of ocean from my desk. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/eek3.gif

My mom loved to re-arrange the furniture. Especially in the on base housing which were pretty crappy houses. She would see the layout of some other family and we all had the exact house or barracks so it was easy to modify their layout to fit our furniture. My wife is fine with leaving things alone and on occasion replace a piece of furniture. Of course we have replaced a lot of flooring and upgraded the tile in the bathrooms and laundry room and the kitchen. I think she is done for now.

Joe, nice knife. Reasonably priced?

Not even remote. About the same price as a new Gen 4 Glock

flipper35 01-12-2017 12:42 PM

Probably feels better in hand than the Glock though!

When I was in HS a friend of mine's parents came into a bunch of money. His Mom didn't work to start with. Ended up not just moving stuff, but redecorating their house almost monthly. Their's was the first house I ever saw a big Subzero fridge all done up to look like the cabinetry. This was the 70's.

It definitely feels pretty good in the hand. It's a hefty blade.

It' Friday!!!

I have an exciting new adventure taking shape. I was asked by one of the Spec. Ed. teachers at the elementary school to partner with him in teaching drums and rhythm arts to kids and adults with mental disabilities.

I am not an educator, obviously but I think it's a pretty cool program. still working out details but it loks promising.

Porsche-poor 01-13-2017 05:54 AM

morning all.

Hey that's cool Wayne.

GH85Carrera 01-13-2017 06:25 AM

Good morning all. The forecast for ice was 100% chance. That was enough for us to close for the day and not risk the slick ice. So far we have had a trace of regular rain. It is 28 degrees but they claim many more rounds of freezing rain.

Porsche-poor 01-13-2017 06:30 AM

stay home, stay safe and live to work another day!

Jim Richards 01-13-2017 07:56 AM

Sounds great, Wayne! I hope that's wildly successful.

Glen, Richard, sorry that we keep sending you weather.

Porsche-poor 01-13-2017 07:58 AM

Its nuts in Bend they have roofs and walls that are collapsing. Glad I don't live there anymore.

flipper35 01-13-2017 09:49 AM

Jim, I thought Cali weather was always perfect?

The situation in Bend sounds like one of those 100 year storms.

Wayne, we have a mentally challenged young man on our softball team. It can be frustrating at times to work with him but rewarding when he does well and smiles all the time.

We have a LAN party scheduled for tomorrow, hope the ice stays south. One of the families coming over has a young boy close to our boy's age and is fanatic about airplanes so he should be in heaven for a while with the air combat. He is a pretty good kid and he and our boy fly paper airplanes together all the time when they are together.

Sometimes we start getting silly and do stuff like follow the leader so I flew the Harrier at full tilt through the hangar deck, tossed cluster bombs up from the inverted position to get them off my tail. Landed an Apache on the top of the AC130 when he was making slow orbits. A friend nearly jumped into the back of a C130 with a DPV but his timing was off (couldn't have been mine in the C130, I am perfect) and bounced off the ramp. Silly stuff to do when the noobs are learning the game. It does NOT work to drive a jeep out the back of a flying Chinook, big CG change there. It does work to hit the guy on the mounted in the jeep from behind with the skids of a Huey or scooping the guy up with the nose of an Mi8 climbing steep and doing a chandelle to drop him off at a bit of altitude while he is across the room yelling at you.

You might have to be there. Tomorrow 10:00, stop on up.

Porsche-poor 01-13-2017 12:07 PM

a couple more hours then I get to go home. Taking Monday off as a vacation day.

Oh Haha 01-13-2017 12:20 PM

We have to get approval from the Special Ed. Director for the curriculum but the teacher doesn't see an issue.

We are hoping to get it started next semester. It's not a paying gig but that's ok. I'm humbled that he would ask me to help.

Porsche-poor 01-13-2017 12:23 PM

oh it will pay big time when you see a kid light up playing the drums.

Jim Richards 01-13-2017 06:16 PM

Good luck Wayne!

Wow, we look to have a break from the rain until next Thursday. A couple of those days are even supposed to be sunny. Imagine that.

RKDinOKC 01-13-2017 06:49 PM

It's 29°F outside with 95% humadity and the dew point is 28°F. They claim it is going to get icy.

pete3799 01-14-2017 04:16 AM

Warming up nicely.....currently +1*
